It's not often if ever at all that you will see a magazine dedicated to one platform give a game exclusive to a rival platform some major kudos, but that's exactly what 360 Magazine has done. For a first impression, they note they were simply amazed.

The Making of Killzone 2

40 minutes of behind the scenes footage

January 27, 2009 - There are games that come out that we, as fans, need to know every single thing about. Concept art, screens, videos, producers, and more -- if it's had something to do with the game, we want to know about it.

Killzone 2 is one of those games.

So far the previews, movies, and screens have been keeping the masses happy, but the thing about insatiable hunger is that people struck with it aren't happy for long. Luckily, the fine folks over at Gamekings.tv are also hungry for Killzone 2 -- so hungry, they decided to spend quite some time making a 40-minute video about the upcoming PlayStation 3 game from Guerilla.

Apparently, Europe's review embargo for KZ2 is being lifted tomorrow i.e. January 29th, meaning that we're actually going to start seeing some reviews a lot sooner than expected

Update:

Sony has confirmed to Kikizo that the actual embargo date for Killzone 2 reviews is February 2nd at 5pm UK time - which is 9AM PST. Eurogamer's is going early as they've agreed an exclusive with the publisher. So come Monday, you'll have a full spectrum of reviews to judge the game by before you play it later in the month.

Super slick presentation and a rollercoaster ride to boot. Killzone 2 is a must buy title.

This is a methodical shooter that makes few concessions to those not already interested in its single-minded approach to cover-based military action. I've compared it to Rainbow Six in the past, but it also calls to mind F.E.A.R, another tough tactical effort that was often misunderstood by those expecting a frag-happy spook hunt. Killzone 2 is a taut and muscular game, a shooter that gives back more than you put in, provided you have the intestinal fortitude. It may take its time revealing its true depths and pleasures, but the journey is well worth taking. Between Killzone 2's unforgiving grit and Resistance 2's alien-bursting excess, the PS3 finally has both ends of the shooter spectrum covered in grand style.

9.5 Presentation
Everything from the first entrance onto the battlefield to the last cutscene creates a hectic, fun and fast-paced thrill ride through a warzone where each step you take could be your last.
9.5 Graphics
Phenomenal visuals prove that Guerrilla either met or surpassed that infamous E3 trailer. Some technical issues hold it back from being a completely flawless masterpiece.
9.0 Sound
7.1 channel sound captures every nuance of the battlefield from gunshots to screams along with a great soundtrack. Weakly delivered, curse-filled dialogue (sans Brian Cox) could've been done better.
9.0 Gameplay
You'll have to get used to the firearms as well as the AI on both sides. More turret and vehicle sections would've been great, but outside of that, the single-player campaign is fun to play through.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
Multiplayer is extremely deep and has the added bonus of an offline skirmish mode. This is where you'll spend the majority of your time once the credits roll.

End line, Killzone 2 is, by IGN's definition, outstanding. It is consistent in every respect and is testament to the talents of the developer as well as the power of the PS3 in the hands of a team that knows how to use the hardware - and who have the full support of Sony behind them. In the same stroke, it is not the be all and end all of console shooters, or even shooters on the PS3 - but if you've read this far and you're one of the Killzone devout, you probably won't care anyway. You can rest easy knowing it was ultimately worth the wait.

NOTE: Yesterday afternoon I received a second review build of Killzone 2. I've edited this review to reflect a few changes. Note that Multiplayer was enabled for this build, but I am just one guy...so I can't review multiplayer.

That's right. It's time for another major review. I've taken a bit of a break (skipping out on Gears of War 2, Fable 2 and Resistance 2) because of the mixed emotions concerning my last review of Grand Theft Auto 4. After updating that review with the second review build, fans were both delighted and disappointed to read about one of the most hyped games in history.
But now it's time to move on...Enter Killzone 2:
