This brings back memories lol. I remember having an Urdu translated version of this book like 10 years ago. Never been a book reader at all but I did read first few chapters of this. It was quite an inspirational book for me back then because of its larger than life setting. Heck I even wrote an incomplete 10 page story myself inspired by the book :p

The Art of War

The Art of War by Sun Tzu written 2400 years. But boy is it an interesting read or what. Should be made compulsory in schools. Basic knowledge of warfare is a must for every citizen, if we are going to resist occupation.

San Andreas by Alistair Maclean

The British Merchant Navy hospital ship San Andreas en route from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Aberdeen, Scotland during World War II. With large red crosses painted on the sides of its hull, San Andreas should have immunity from attack from all sides in the war and be granted safe passage. The first sign of trouble occurs when the ship's lights mysteriously fail just before a pre-dawn bombing attack that severely damages its superstructure and sinks its escort frigate. With most of the senior officers dead and the captain incapacitated, Bosun Archie McKinnon must take charge of the damaged ship and steer her to safety
Was reading my father's old books. And came across this. Was a good read. Recommended for those who love thrillers concerning sea action.

Partisans by Alistair MacLean

Plot introduction

During World War II, Pete Peterson, a Yugoslavian agent with an unlikely name, and his team of compatriots cross war-torn Yugoslavia to deliver a secret message and unmask a double agent.
It is not clear who Peterson is actually working for, as the plot meanders through the confusion of Yugoslavia's three-way civil war, with Communist Partisans, the Serb royalist Chetniks and the Croatian fascist Ustashe fighting as much against each other as against their Italian and German occupiers. Everyone's loyalties are uncertain. Obviously, the sardonic Petersen is not working for the Nazis, but what about those with him?
Also one of my father's old books. This one is better than San Andreas. Full of action and suspense it is.

The Warrior's Path: The Sacketts

This is the third book in L'Amour's monumental "Sackett" series, set in 1620 in Colonial America. A wounded Indian brings news that Yance Sackett's sister-in-law and a young woman reputed to be a witch have been kidnapped by the bloodthirsty Pequot Indians. When Yance and his brother Kin set out to search the treacherous Warrior's Path, an old war trail that led from the vicinity of Chattanooga to Boston, they soon discover that ruthless white slavers are behind the kidnapping, using and exploiting the tensions between the settlers and the Indians. With the help of the Ashanti warrior, Yance and Kin rescue the women and then set out for Jamaica to put an end to the slave ring, fighting slavers as well as pirates along the way.
I have read a lot a L'Amour's books. That is the reason I really like 3:10 to Yuma.

Just finished The Da Vinci Code. Unlike many other people (including my brother) I didn't believe a word of whatever 'claims' Brown made and took them as lightly as being part of a fictional novel in a fictional world. It was a huge improvement over Angel's and Demons. All the problems I had with that one were fixed in this one and I was really pleased with that. In a all, a very interesting read but I must say I'm already bored of Brown's trite storytelling.

I need more fantasy. SOON.

A Time to Kill by John Grisham

A Time to Kill is the name of a legal suspense thriller authored by John Grisham in 1989.
In Mississippi, 10-year-old Tonya Hailey is viciously brutalized by two white racists -- James Louis "Pete" Willard and Billy Ray Cobb. Almost immediately after Tonya is found and rushed to a hospital, Pete and Billy Ray are found at a roadside bar, where they had been bragging about what they did to Tonya.
While deputy Dwayne Powell Looney is escorting Pete and Billy Ray down a flight of stairs leaving a court room, Carl Lee Hailey emerges from a nearby closet with an assault rifle, and he kills Pete and Billy Ray for what they did to Tonya. Carl Lee is later arrested at his house by African-American sheriff Ozzie Walls, and Carl Lee is scheduled to be placed on trial. And now its up to Jake Tyler Brigance, a young white lawyer, to save Carl Lee from death row.
I liked it. Though I liked The Partner better. Still a good read. Excellent piece of writting from John Grisham.
