someone tell me if this partition is same as when sli/xfire only one gpu vram is used. is the scene same her
brother as i said before, that 0.5G segment doesnt effect on gaming heavily, as the benchmark posted in previous page, suggest it is only minor difference 1-3 fps unnoticeable dude. as far as SLI is concern, there problem further expand for ULTRA texture gameplay and higher resolution.

secondly, i have also heard about 970 graphics visual problems. it can't even compete with 780 in this regard. kepler is strong overall performance. but the price. people dont notice it much but what i heard from reliable source, they tested it. so 970 could be a mystery in near future. it might be wrong. I am not 100% sure. as i dont have it to test. still have to see benchmarks and detailed neutral review from PG community. that is what we are missing here.

NVIDIA didnt published any return policy over this controversy yet. i think they will only release update through drivers to resolve maximum problem outta it, not 100% but may be cover some % of it.

anybody run that vRAM bandwidth

and whats results you get?
we are expecting from people like you, as you got 970 too.

something i found on Geforce forum

https://forums.geforce.com/default/...stem-ram-over-video-ram-3-5gb-vram-1gb-sram-/

As you can see, the GPU is swapping 1GB off to the system ram, despite being able to hold another 512MB just fine.

The game in question is Half Life 2 with the Cinematic Mod (a 50GB fan modification of HL2 including both EP1 and EP2) installed. AA was set to 3x3 Supersampling along with basically everything else maxed out (both ingame and Cinematic Mod separate settings dialogue).

Guess even Half-Life knows that those last 512MiB are crap... though that should still be at least twice as fast as going through PCIe...

P.S. ignore the GPU usage in Process Explorer (the bottom window). its not accurate!

looks system Vram is using after 3.3g Dedicated GPU ram

The problem is not about whether or not GTX 970 can utilize all available vRAM. The thing is, gameplay doesn't remain as good or smooth as until 3.5GB vRAM. Didn't NVIDIA tought everybody that numbers aren't everything? G-sync brought 60fps smoothness to 40fps is the prime example of it.

There's absolutely no room for an argument.

Only Nvidia knows why they did what they did :fp2: :fp2: . Even if they had advertised the card with 3.5GB VRam (and less cache and ROP count...), it would have still sold like no problem.

Nonsense, NVIDIA is being nonsense. The vRAM limitation is by "design" anyone who disagrees is delusional. Having said that, the testings done by various tech sites also has "mixed" views. A law firm is investigating NVIDIA over GTX 970 as well, so expect some "final" verdict on the matter soon.

Hahahaha really nice video. I really should have sticked to my R9 290. it was a beast. Feeling sad to be ripped by nvidia by this 970. I always thought nvidia was a better company

Anything that's released before NVIDIA confirmed this 2 different memory pool thingy is outdated. And good luck with your bias.
Nobody have denied that GTX 970 have split memory pool.

This is from the article of PC Perspective that I cited:

You would have known if you had bothered to check the article that I cited but your attitude gets in the way of rationality.

As for the accusation of bias, I bashed Nvidia for this matter too. And I am not buying GTX 970.

However, I am interested in finding out the facts. My point is that the entire memory pool of GTX 970 is usable for rendering purposes. Here is an example:

Point of contention is that revelations in the 1st post of this thread are misleading: http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f68/nvidia-gtx-970-design-flaw-219266/

If you are not able to understand my points in this debate or have no interest in checking the cited links that contain useful information, don't bother responding.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
