Sure, if you really are aware of his meticulous nature and how careful he is with his stuff, by all means consider it but do check reviews for the lappy and keep in mind the sort of computer work that you will need it for, which I feel requires heavy

graphic processing.

In any case, I shall begin my research for the list of NEW laptops that may well fit your needs and budget.
Alright let me know once you're done and thank you very much. :)

Thanks for the appreciation, Edifier.

I looked and looked and looked but a laptop for Rs. 40000 does NOT feature any of those things, completely, that you require in your laptop. The ones that do start with a price tag of Rs. 49000 so I suppose you are good to go with buying the

DM4 from you friend, since you can easily and fairly aassociate reliability and trust with him.

Sorry that I wasn't really much help but I wish you the best of luck anyway.

Mine too plz :D
So far, all notebooks that feature Ivy Bridge seem to beat your budget.

Dell Vostro looks to be the best option to me in that 60k range.

Oh, thats sad. Well i guess then the DM4 seems fine.

Btw any idea how much should i buy it for? He bought it in the mid of 2010, he got it from canada so i guess it must have some sort of international warranty. Is in good condition, not much used.

And any idea if it has some heating issues or not? I did read some reviews and they didn't mention any of the cons regarding heating issues except for its cheap build quality touchpad.

And you have been of great help. :)

Well, I have come across NO heating issues, infact the dm4 is said to combat moderately high temperatures pretty well. You are right, the only major con is its cheap plasticy looks. Since you won't be gaming on it much, it sounds like a good buy.

Currently, this particular model is priced at around Rs. 70,000. So if you are getting it in really good condition in Rs. 40000, consider that a really good price.

Thanks for the appreciation, glad to help. :)

Gosh! I've looked it up on almost every website now. There are SO many laptops that do suit your requirements except for just one, the backlit keyboard. :s

The ones that do have backlit keyboard are over Rs. 95000. Sheesh! That's just nonsense!

That sounds really good, Edifier.

I am sure gttx will be able to help you with this bit more than I can so I would let him answer that if you don't mind.

I ll still try since you asked adn it won't be nice to just pass this on, check the laptop from the outside, the keyboard, touchpad. See that the case and hardware looks good to you or if it doesn't have that fell to it that you are looking for.

Fully charge the laptop the first day.

Switch it on and notice how much time it takes to boot up and then carry out all normal operations. Check the specifications from My Computer, note them down with you. Keep a check on the speed with which you are able to toggle between

programs as you open more than one programs. Try running a game (not too demanding) and also connect it to the internet and download a couple of things.

Do NOT turn off the laptop, let keep running so that we know how hot it gets and also how good the battery timing is before it goes to sleep.

Also, switch it off and check how quickly it goes off.

I hope that would do.

Hussey. Yup and budget around 75k

should be well built and not cheapo.

Edifier. Follow Hussey checkup tips. He has covered most of the stuff. Dont forget to check battery timing practically. Dont look at what Windows reports to you.

gttx , bro i made a seperate thread ( scroll down the help desk forums) but no one replied :( , im too looking for something around 75-80 mark and have found lenovo ideapad for 550 pounds and 50 pounds cashback once you purchased and register it on lenovo website . so its like 500 pounds in the end (74k Rps) . Just gonna call my relative in uk to get this for me.

Its a Z 580 , core i5 ivy bridge , 8 Gig , 1 TB Hard disk and 2 GB 630 M Nvidia , Bluetooth , Wifi , WiDi , DVD , Webcam . Screen is HD , though i would have preferred a HD+ at 1600x900 but well :( . Its a good performance machine with a 15.6 inch LCD. The only trouble finding one in Pakistan.

And my personal experience : My lenovo survived 4 years abuse and my office laptop a latitude ( 2011 end model ) with so much car is the worst laptop in terms of build quality. Every day in my office some one complains about its hard disk , screen , keyboard , touchpad getting scuffed up so quick and a dust magnet . Its a latitude , a business series machine which should handle 12-14 hours but its not like it.

Thanks for the appreciation, Hashim.

Here, I have a few options, only ones that I could find on Pakistani online websites mind you, that closely match your requirements:

a) HP Pavilion DV6: Hp Pavilion DV6-7024TX Price in Pakistan, Specs, Rate, Reviews, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi - Mega.Pk

b) HP Pavilion G6: HP Pavilion G6-2071se Price in Pakistan, Specs, Rate, Reviews, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi - Mega.Pk

c) Dell Inspiron N7520: Dell Inspiron N7520 price in pakistan

All the above fall in the range of Rs. 75000-Rs.80,000. You don't necessarily have to buy from the aforementioned websites as they might be available for cheap in the local markets or even on other online websites.

Plus, I must emphasise that the above-mentioned links are for references to specs only.

Choose one for yourself first and then we can see where to buy from.

has anyone tried YouPickWeBuy | Just another WordPress site ? its from homeshopping people so must be a bit reliable ?
It's an easy way to loot people, that's all. They charge you lots for shipping, customs and legal fees.

If you are so eager on ordering something from abroad, I'd recommend Jshak, the premium seller here on PakGamers.

@Hussey , should one go for an ideapad from abroad ( which i think has a better build quality ) or an inspiron from Pakistan. Getting from Pakistan means warranty , getting from abroad well i will have a diffrent laptop then rest of the people and ideapad seems to have better build quality as my 2011 latitude sucks in quality so God knows what have they done to inspiron in 2012 :|
