Was thinking about replacing a Mehran, which is my secondary car (to be used by family when am at work) these days with a Mini Pajero. Would like a Pros and Cons evaluation and if there's something better in that price range. Also am assuming the range is less than 5lacs.

If you want good fuel consumption - Don't buy it.
If you want cheap maintenance - Don't buy it.
If you want good resale - Don't buy it.
If you need comfortability and other shashkay like power windows, steering, etc which local cars lack - Go for it.

How about some quantitative measures. Like actual mileage, parts prices and depreciation?

It's totally a waste of money don't go foR It,,,,,it's having 660cc engine which drins petrol like a 1600cc car,,, plus no resale,,,but yes it's filled with lotz of features,,,,,It's better that u increase ur budget a bit and go for JDM Alto that is a good car overall, just it's shape :/

I don't know about the actual mileage but its kinda expensive as compared to local cars. Since the car is very rare + its mitsubishi and its imported too, so ofcourse the parts would be costly and easy availability would be a problem also. Its resale value is low, no one buys this car nowadays because of other good options in the same price range. You will get a fresh piece in mint condition for about 5.5-6lakhs.

PLus I've noticed it has extremely less leg space in the back seats. I Would never buy it and would rather stick to the mehran.

Yup, even I've seen the 1100cc Mini Pajero.

I owned it and would advise not to give it a green.
Fuel consumption is fine as that of any other vehicle and resale solely depends upon the condition rather than make. The issue is that it heats up. For no reason you will be having this issue. If you want to buy it for extra space, comfort and consumption and Suzuki Kei should be your choice. Never heats up, better consumption and bigger space that that of a mini Pajero.

mini pajero is only good for people who want cheap thrills. its a dinky rocket and eats petrol like a proper sized pajero :p definitely not a practical choice and absolutely not for family use. there is a reason why this is the only import that still lives below 4lac category. still if u HAVE to buy it then look for a manual non-turbo ver.

I looked around a bit and I suppose a Jap Alto is the best deal in that price, no?
Yes it is the best deal compared to local (Mehran and Cuore) btw its build quality is poor/worst compared other jap imports like Mira, Duet, Pajero etc etc.

Darwaazay bajtay hain aur body bahut halki hai. according to a car dealer.

Also, Kei 5lac mein nahi milti shayad RA (repair accident) grade miljae local chali hui 2 years.

Why don't you go for vitz? Its an excellent family car. You can drive it for hours without getting tired and 1999 - 2004 might be in your budget as well and gives better mileage. I registered one in the recent FBR fiasco. Got 2002 for 450k in very good condition and really happy with it.
