Laptop repair fraud.My experience.

dude consumer court is very useful, believe me THAT is the only proper functioning court in pakistan

sorry for you loss. same kind of thing was happening to me too but thank God I was saved. Few months ago when i waked up in the morning my CPU was not starting up I checked every thing but still no use so i decided to take it to a repair shop. It was morning and very few shops were opened. I entered a shop and told them that CPU was working fine last night now its not turning ON. They told me that the PSU has fused + The Bios has been corrupted due to electricity problem. He said It will cost 1400rupees 600PSU and 800BIOS repair. I doubed that how BIOS gets corrupt by electiricty problem luckily I remembered that there is a friend of my uncle who has a shop in same plaza too. So I told her and he said it is only the PSU problem he is charging 800rs extra for BIOS. I changed the PSU for and every thing started to work fine. It was not a big fraud just 800rupees extra he was charging by lying the BIOS problem but still it was fraud

Dont you have the purchase receipt of your notebook? It should carry the RAM size. Look for it.
Moreover, when RAM size decreases, bios POST screen generates an alert. Did you see any such prompt/alert?

No I actually bought the laptop 2 years back so I dont have it.And these guys had the laptop in their possession when they removed the RAM.

i agreed with u on this issue not all but most of pc shops have same attitude thy are just for getting money but thy dont know nothing
and about 5 waqt namazi i think u forgot that this is pakistani.here the person who looks most religious and decent is indeed the worst rascal person my advice to you never trust anyone in pakistan who is 5 time namazi and have long beard

Its a mistake to choose a service provider based on his appearance. Beard has nothing to do with honesty.
And, moreover, if you have ever been dishonest with someone, expect the same from others. Tit for tat.

oh come on man its not just pakistanis. i went to low yat plaza in malaysia and payed 2k rs extra for a projector AFTER bargaining.the shop next door was giving a free 16 gb usb with it also so yeah i kinda got ripped off.its the consumers job to be smart and not get ripped off.im sorry for ur loss per u shudnt have gone back to the guy if he charged u extra the first time. its a laptop and most technicians can theoretically fix it.same is the case with everything be it cars or even a toaster.next time be smart and check the market for opinions of an estimated cost. chances are some1 might tell u the honest cost of repair.ppl these days believe in short term profit:ripp some1 off and get a max payout along with losing a customer rather than making a customer and getting a larger longterm payout

I looked at my first post and I realize that Iam stereotyping people.I apologize if anyone got hurt,I was just really hurt and tired by what was going on around here.Iam not strong enough to confront people and I don't have anyone in my immediate family who can.Iam just tired of living like this.


Another update:The laptop started showing the same problem once again and yesterday when we went to him he refused to fix it again.The laptop didn't even work for 2 days and he is blaming my sister for using it wrongly?My mother asked him to give the money back and he flatly refused.That smug had the courtesy to pretend to talk on his phone while my mother was asking him to either fix it or return the money.
