iOS 7 update?

i have iphone 5 gevy sim locked to rogers canada ios 6, i was wondering if i can update it to ios7 without bricking my phone via ota or itunes?

You can update ota as long as the phone is not jailbroken but I don't think the gevey sim will work on ios 7.

If your iphone is non jailbroken than you can update it via OTA otherwise use Itunes to update. Geveysim is working on ios 7 (call, text, edge, gprs etc) but USSD Codes (*# commands) may not work.

STRAIGHT FORWARD TUTORIAL:
CAUTION: Once you update to ios7, currently there is no way to downgrade.
To update via Itunes.
*Download the latest version of itunes.
*Backup your iphone.
*Download the CORRECT (Because there are 2 models of iphone 5, model number is written on back of your iphone) firmware file (.ipsw) from the link Download iOS 7.0.3 IPSW For iPhone, iPad, iPod touch [Direct Links] | Redmond Pie
*Attach your iphone to PC.
*On itunes while iphone is connected press Shift+Update.
*Thats all. Restart your iphone to activate, if required. Enjoy your new iOS7.

Thanks alot that helped tons. So before i update just wanted to ask are you sure that "call, text, edge, gprs etc" are working? and its ok if don't backup to itunes and instead to icloud right?

Backup is just optional, do whatever you need to do. I am 100% sure about call and text etc, there are many users also in this forum who are using iphone with gevey on ios7. You can update Gevey devices to iOS 7 but NOTE:
USSD codes don't work, meaning you cant check your balance or activate those packages which get activated by USSD codes.

wonderful i just had a quick question regarding the backup. After you've updated to ios7 and select from restore backup in my case restore from icloud will all off my app data specifically my whatsapp history and my texts will they all come back?

I just took backup of my contacts and msgs nothing else. Take backup of every thing before updating. no idea about whatsapp stuff.

So you backed up to itunes and after the update did all the msgs came back?
