I am willing to go to a travel agent, but i am not willing to go to someone i don't know, or don't have a link with somehow. Because I KNOW they are going to quote absurd prices, and they will demand absurd amount as security deposits. With a reference, i am pretty sure i can get things done cheaply.
Pakistan needs you. If you need to know about dubai. You know where to find me ;)

AoA!

Well everyone has to go through tough choices once in the life. This time, its me. I am looking forward to visit Dubai to avail job opportunities but i am in the process of Planning, atm. So there are some things which i need to ask, and i would really like to have an answer from someone who has already visited Dubai and has first hand experience.

1. VISA
Basically, i am looking for the following attributes.
1. 3 Months Duration
2. Cheapest
3. Without security

2. ACCOMMODATION
What choices Do i have in this regard? I have read an old news on 'gulfnews' that we can't rent Bunk Beds anymore because its illegal. Is it really? Then what choices do we really have? I don't wish to pay like 1500AED per month for Rent, especially when its with more than 2 tenants.

Also, how true is this page: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thornt...-four-cheapest-accommodation-options-in-dubai

3. RECRUITMENT AGENCIES
Are there any 'legit' recruitment agencies available there? I have heard a lot of "Innovations" but i don't know the reality.

I would prefer something who won't take money from 'us' but from their client i.e. companies. BUT if it comes down to ME paying to get a good job, i would, if its affordable (like, between 4-5k AED).

Lastly, i have a friend living in Abu Dhabi, and I have a choice to go to him, and stay with him. But i want to know, how would it affect me, if most of the job opportunities are in Dubai. As in, how much would it cost me to travel to Dubai, and what options do i have?
You plan and apply in February, you get your sim setup for roaming and loaded ready to go in Feb. The job's open in March and it is the time when you go there bus issay ziada I cannot say. You can tell me what you do and more on your skill set and if we have space I could help you with an interview...On a side note my Dubai office needs Adwords and performance marketing expert so let me know if anyone's interested.

Pakistan needs you.
My last 5 years have taught me well. I have never wanted to leave Pakistan, EVER. But for someone who is trying to take a stand in life, i don't think this sentence is going to have any affect on me. But for the sake of clarity, i am not leaving PK. Its just a momentary transition to get settled, a luxury difficult to obtain while in Pakistan.

he is going there to pursue career you will only end him up in trouble :p you need to talk about dubai to me shahzad and reza :p
Wait, what are you guys talking about exactly? :shifty:

Thanks brother.

Your statement just affirms what a lot of people have already told me. Companies will start their hiring/firing process starting Mid-Feb or Mar. So plenty of opportunities to look through. However, given the nature of my field, i like to have a contingency plan with me at ALL times. Hence the query about recruitment agencies.

Appreciate your offer, though :) I'll consider it.

Well me saqib and reza are old friends as well shahzad. He's meaning some fun stuff ;).

As for dubai, I admit everyone cannot earn good without proper experience in a good company/institution.

Our currency is so weak and things remain at large even we want to do something. I second that.

Coming to dubai in job hunt, march to july is a good time as some companies renew yearly contract for their employees (retaining or clearing).

If you need help in staying there. Dont forget me :).

Sugguested is sharjah for cheap accommodation but if you looking for a lower ball paying rentals, oud meetha/karama/bur dubai by lamcy is a cheap place for starters.

Make sure the employer who hires you should give you the accommodation.

According to my experience i noticed End of Jan to Feb-March is a Good Time to Visit The Weather is good so as the Job Openings
The Audit thing is over the Budgets are Refreshed so companies looks for hiring at this point of time, I also got a job in Feb and many of my friends also got a job around jan-feb

Here is another tip
As you have a Friend over here ask him to purchase a sim for you get yourself a UAE number and add that in your CV
start applying 7 to 10 days before coming to UAE by doing this you will save up some time because start 15 days Goes wasted getting your CV to get listed
Plus Apply Late Night so Your CV Stays on Top in INBOX :shifty:

I already have a UAE number in my CV and i (and my friend) have been applying through Dubizzle since, well ... its been a while. Absolutely no calls whatsoever. CV has been screened multiple times by professional HR people, and using software to ensure its effectiveness. Last option is to visit UAE personally, and 1) avail the opportunity to do walk-in interviews, 2) contact local recruitment agencies, 3) personally visit companies (if possible) to seek an employment.

General info from people there, is that its bad out there for people like us (its like that around the world). But let's see what happens.

Not sure what's the reason
You may need to improve/revamp the CV formatting for UAE if you are still using the Same cv you had for pakistan
plus i used to mention my Visa expiry period in My Email so i guess by that they get a hint that you are in UAE

Well i donot agree with what general info someone gave you , you will find lots of Brown ppl here most of Indians and Pakistanis are working here in UAE or in other words i would say the Philippines, Indian and Pakistanis are the ones who are running this place Locals don't do job on such Low wages neither the Does Gora and companies are open about the ppl who can work on Less demanding salary and only these nations can survive at that salary so i don't believe about there preference thing they have and we don't have specially on specific salary scale

if they are looking forward for 20 25k aed salary person then yes definitely they prefer some Gora btw just don't rely on Dubizzle search on Linkedin as well plus Google Companies email addresses and push your cvs in those
because there are lots of cases here that many companies don't post the jobs online and ppl get hired from references or the CVs they have it already

BTW Shouldn't this Thread be part of JOBS AND CAREER section ?

abobobilly I want to add few points which can help you in atleast getting an interview call.

- Add your middle east number to your resume (which i think you've already did )
- Use different source to get job listing. I strongly prefer linkedin due to its global reach.
- Grow your linkedin network and get linkedin premium account trial ( they offer free 1 month premium account trial ).
- Instead of applying to 100's of jobs, filter which are more suitable for you and target them.
- Don't just send them your resume. Read their JD, modify your resume as per their requirement and highlight your points that target their JD.
- Prepare a brief cover later as per the target JD. Send them both your resume and cover later 10 to 15 days before going to Dubai and mention to them via email that you'll be available for in person interview after x days. And they can contact you on your middle east number.

Instead of going there without any plans would be waste of time and money. I recommend you to plan these things before actually going there. Best of luck and i hope you get your desire job there.
