Blastwave has summed up pretty much everything for you this how things works in UAE
Plus i would recommend you to Get Visit visa of 1 month and then extend to 2 Month
or Get 2 Months visa and Extend to 1 month Visa

Come over here and start hunting yourself sitting in Pakistan and getting UAE job is very rare case
companies don't prefer ppl living outside UAE
it is simple logic when hundreds and thousands of ppl living here already applying for the position they are easily accessible why they would go for someone outside Country
there is lots of scam involved getting the person outside the country you never know if that work has shown by the person is actually his work so they usually call for interview take test so they remain be sure about the person they hiring :mental

come at the Start of year January / Feb at this time there are usually job openings at this period of time Get One more visa see if you find the job in a month if not extends the visa to 30days more

it is hard to find the Job in a Month if you are coming for a Month then don't come here its a waste of money then
the reason is it takes time to get response from the company it takes around 15 to 20 days from companies to start getting response and then lining up interview from the date of CV submission so in the 2nd month you usually are busy in interviews

And you can check the scope of your industry by checking Classified section of DUBIZZLE.com though right now things are slow right now hopefully Jan/Feb will be the month of hirings but it all depends of Luck and your experience in the industry

Good Luck !
Since when did you shift to the GCC?

@Pleasant what about accomodation? If I plan to visit UAE for a job hunt, I would definitely not stay in hotels. What options do I have?

2nd, there are many ads like these : Why would I physically goto UAE, and spend my money when these guys can set me up?
Spoiler: show

3rd, does a person who has a family (Wife and kids to feed) can afford to work and live in UAE, while also sending some money to his homies back in Pak?

What are the prospects?

i have no idea about those ads if they are asking money then they are surely scam
take a hotel for a day or two and then start hunting for BED SPACE Dubizzle.com is ur friend for this too

what is bed space it is sharing an apartment room with other guys whoever comes here lives here in the same manner or if he is big shot chooses hotel apartment or his own apartment
bed space is usually share between two ppl or 3 ppl or so on depending on Prices
you can find bed space in 600 - 800 / 1200 - 2200 AED ( Depends on Locality / Number of ppl in Room lesser the ppl the price goes up )

so if you have friend and he can arrange an space for you before you land if not then you will have to book hotel online i.e trivago.com e.t.c and then you hunt for the place yourself so better hook up someone who can find you a place before you land so it can cost you less

for the 3rd Question
Yes some ppl do that but for that you will have to be earning 12K - 15k AED plus and have to have driving license so you can live far from main city to find cheap accommodation
like 3.5k to 5.5k AED per month

Alot of people come here looking for their "dream job"... well thats not really the case.

Unless ofcourse you are highly skilled and can land a job of more than 10,000 dhirams, ITS NOT WORTH MOVING HERE.

I know people who accepted jobs for 5k to 8k and now are annoyed with their life. They live in bed spaces (sharing apartments of extremely poor quality). You cant have enough money to send back home, you cant shop here that easily.. seriously its not worth it.

Only consider moving here if you get a job more than 10k atleast. That too if you are single. If you have a family atleast have a salary of 15k if you want to live a decent life. Rent is very high here in Abu Dhabi / Dubai if you get your own apartment. Everything is more expensive here. You might be earning equivalent of 3 lakh rupees but your expenses will also increase in the same manner.

Anyway, if you want to get a job in UAE, you have to come here and take some risks and apply from here. Very difficult to get a job directly from Pakistan.

Applying to UAE or anywhere in MEA is pretty straight forward with some additional steps besides the usual job hunting.

Your resume should have a local UAE phone number listed.

Traditional businesses don't even bother looking at resumes that aren't locally accessible quickly.

IT Sector, MNCs sometimes get on skype and call people but thats rare.

NO ONE wants to hire someone outside the country, its simply stupid.

So what do you need?

YOU NEED a local UAE phone number on your resume. Be it a colleague living there, some relative, whoever.

So when you apply for jobs and they get a call, they schedule interview for you OR inform you so you can directly contact the company.

RESUMES with Local phone numbers have 90% more chances of getting a call for interview than a resume without it.

NOW.....

Schedule all your interviews in the most confined time you can. So you go there only once/ twice a year and cover all the interviews in one single trip than to make random expensive trips. Unless you get plane tickets for free.

Apply for jobs using job websites, local newspapers and REFERENCES.

If you don't have any references, you're gonna have a tough time.

Companies prefer hiring by reference a lot more than external hiring because they get to see resumes from people fit the job immediately rather than pay for an ad, wait for candidates and then sort them out.

But all is not dark.

Apply everywhere, write it in the email / cover letter that you're ready on skype 24/7

Customize your resume to fit the job description you want

Do a short course or pick up a skill in the job description youre interested in.
Exactly, furthermore it all depends on your field as well whether there's a demand there or not, for example right now nearly every company in UAE is hiring information security people due to the recent bill passed by the government that all companies require to have a information security department / personnel. Your cover letter should be good enough, you should know how to sell yourself and your C.V should not be bigger than 2 A4 Pages. Lastly if you have someone in dubai then start giving their number(s) on your C.V as a contact source, so they can inform you if they receive a job interview call and then you can catch up a flight and reach dubai within hours.

One of my friend done the same and he's now working in dubai at a very good package (of course past work experience and qualification matters too).

Most of what Pleasant and others said is correct. It's really interesting, coming and working here in the UAE.

So by the numbers;

1) Your CV, LinkedIn and your presence on websites like Bayt.com, GulfNewsJobs, GNAds4U, Monster, NaukriGulf etc... all those atrum patrum sites is important.

2) Be here if you want a job. You can do that profiling stuff beforehand but in the end, YOU HAVE TO BE HERE. I, like a few other friends of mine, burned all my ships to come here. I gathered the money, and just set sail, and honestly, it was a huge risk cuz if things had gone wrong, I would've been JOBLESS, BACK HOME, and a FEW HUNDRED THOUSAND RUPEES SHORT. Luckily, Allah paid great heed to my motivation. I urge the same level for yours. We here about people applying or trying to apply, or approaching hiring companies in PK who head-hunt for these Gulf firms, but been there, done that too. A company wasted my 1.5 years and held on to my money also while apparently getting me a job in Oman for a mere 400 O Riyal. Truth is, a miracle, and only a miracle could get you hired in the Emirates while not actually being here. All my friends here (and to be honest, more than 15 that I can count had to 'escape' to come here, and eventually got something or the other). Some of my friends actually DID come here, some like TWICE, and sadly, still left empty. I do feel sad for them but I can't quite say what they did wrong. Maybe, just MAYBE they didn't stroll the hot roads here under the sun enough. So well, long story short, BE HERE. Skype? I don't really think so.

3) Existing Experience Take-away? Money Money Money? All for shit. The thing is, when you come here, your previous experience and runway glamour hardly blings. Everyone will ask you how much GCC experience you have, and when you tell them... shit... they tell you... bullshit. Though it does add value, but Non-GCC experience hardly moves heads here. 90% people (including yours truly) who have landed here have started fresh, having patience not to reflect too much on the past, and just look into the future. Slowly and gradually, if you stay here, you'll progress. And I believe much better and faster than PK. I worked almost 6 years there. Cappashittino. To be honest, if you're a bachelor still, and you find a job between 5k-8k AED, just shut up and work. You can't really come here thinking of 10k+ AED, cuz it's not like that when you come here. People I know who've been living here all their lives are sometimes looking for work, so just don't be disappointed and be prepared. You're not alone. And if you do get something 10k+, honestly, you've done very well. I mean you could. But it's one in a 100, or more a chance. Yeah, as someone already said, 15k is something you'd wanna be at if you're a loving husband and proud father.

4) References. Very, VERY important. Even though a couple of my own family members didn't help me much, references can get you somewhere. Honestly, your CV here is less important than references, so this is a major game-changer. Having a CV is obviously important, but I've seen interviews PRECEDE CV submission in my life. References always count the world over, and Dubai is no different. Plus, remember.. you're a Pakistani, which unfortunately, an apparent obstacle here. These Arabs hire Eurpoeans/Americans/Japs with their eyes-closed and mouths open, they hire Indians/Filipinos with their eyes open and pockets-closed. They hire other Arabs because, well, they're still Arabs. Nowadays they've started hiring lots of their own, and when it's about Emiratis, no one stands a chance, thanks to Emiratization. This leaves us. So, you have relatives or friends here, suck 'em dry. Let go of your ego. Just lick ____ if you have to, but it just... might... get you a j o b. So don't hesitate. Quite many people have these miracle working acquaintances which may do them wonders. Look for yours.

5) ???? A bit of lying and getting stuff done: No one, and I repeat, NO ONE is going to backtrack your PK experience (unless it's some Pakistani Banks here, or similar co who can contact their Pakistani counterparts). So to look good, you can add some bling to your CV. Keep it complete, improve designations and stuff, and show some brands. I know, you'd be thinking I'm being unethical, but it's ok. Everyone lies. Having 'worked' for leading MNCs in Pakistan might just get you a better impression.

6) A lot of risk, but worth a try: So well, no one's going to hand you an Dubai Job offer letter rolled in red ribbon while your having paratha roll at Karachi Darbar. It's not an easy feat for most, and it's risky business. But most people get through. Come here, gather money for your Dubai Trip, walk the streets, apply online, GO FOR WALK-IN INTERVIEWS (Important) and hope for the best. Just be prepared. That's what I did... I think. And the best season to be here is from November to February. Emiratis chill a bit during December. And the rest of the year it's hot, and not exactly hiring season. So there.

If you miss home, which you will, don't come to me. This place is expensive, yahan kharchay zaida hain. I laughingly end up paying around a 1000 AED towards my phones each month, and around 400 AED is one vehilce's monthly parking (mandatory). But relax, this is only to give you some perspective. Pakistan is still cheap - just a lot powerless and quite lawless. Phir bhi dil hai Pakistani.

Hope this all helps... Baqi naseeb apna apna yaro. All the best.

DJ80 although you share great experience and tips for others which will or may help landing the job
but i would highly discourage adding FAKE BLING in your CV / Portfolio i am totally against it its unethical and in other words i would say
"Q Job ki shruwaat hi haram tareqay se kero Jo naseeb me likha ha woh milna ha
ab bunday ki marzi ha k woh halal kerke khaye ya haram kerke" so i would highly discourage that and would recommend believing in yourself and you abilities, embrace it what you have and Good Luck (2t)

If you're an Electronics Engg, and you're good at it, and with 2 yrs of exp you're still taking Rs.18k, then there's nobody to blame except you. You have devalued yourself.

You need to go out in the market, get some exposure, and apply somewhere else. Your worth is way more than that. From where did you pass out?

Interesting..... I just got back from Dubai. I found it to be an amazing place to live, provided you have at least 25k dirhams per month of salary.

Views aside, I am also interested to work in UAE. I'm a pharmacy grad, pursuing MBA, currently working as Asst. Brand Manager (Medical Simulation) at a very meager pay :(

Unfortunately, all healthcare grads have to pass ministry of health exam in order to work at any country.

My question is, what should I do if I want to work as a marketing professional in Dubai, keeping in view that my MBA is still in progress and age is running away fast.....

Should I complete my MBA first or should I apply on my pharmD degree.....

Dubai's market is very highly competitve market where you will find all sort of labour trying their luck to get in what ever package they will get. For them it's an money making market, from where they come plus it's right now the safest city in the world to stay. Everyone cannot be a winner, and start feeling they will be the chosen one. Recruitments agents are available all over the market where they offer you all sort of working visa in Dubai, UAE. You need to work hard in getting what you are qualified at. I cannot recommend you anything, untill you are clear on what your background qualification and the number of years experience if you have any...

Everyone isn't that lucky. Dubai is good for a carrer stepper, once can have an good experience and move up ladder by opnioning an International carrer growth. Dubai has a luxury life style, and levels of ppl that can live up their life according to their pay scale.
As for completing your degree. That would give you an open decision what you can get. Experience matters in this market. Let me clear it out. What ever pay packages you have definded, are not for new freshies. Experience of min 2 plus years.
