if u get admission in LUMS and complete ur undergraduate, and graduate from there, honestly u dont need ACCA. ACCA is now on the stage where IT and Computer field was in early 90s. now almost every other graduate and even matric student start preparing for ACCA. (FIA). market is so saturated of ACCA students now that its almost useless to do it as of now. this is 2014. if a student starts his ACCA, it takes a minimum of 3 to 3.5 years to complete studies (yeah i know u can complete ACCA studies in 2.5 years but who do u know that attempted 4 papers in one sitting? any one??? almost NONE!) then u need ur articleship. thats another 3 years. sure u can start it early during studies after some pepers, but believe me that woule not only tripple the burden on u for the articleship and studies but also that would hinder ur sittings in the papers.
after part qualifying (9 papers) the best u will get from intership is like 8-10K MAX! and they will get almost every other work from u in the office. u will have to stay late at the office and do everything u are told to do. u will have to ask people to share the knowledge with u, their experiences their skills but NO ONE WILL TELL U ANYTHING! yes thats the reality in almost 95% of the accountancy firms and banks and multinational companies out there.
and then after 5 or 6 years of shit load of hardwork, do u think u would be the only one doing ACCA in that time? NOPE.
there are already many qualified ACCAs out there.
so, yall be thinking like, hey dude, why u soar about ACCA? well, i have been there. i have done 1.5 years of my articleship. from P.W (u know the rest
) .
my point, dont start it now. its almost dead now. market in pakistan is almost dead for ACCA. my concern is when u study so hard for something so difficult and honestly TOO EXPENSIVE, what u are getting?? a "CERTIFICAION" NOT a DEGREE!!!
in the international market a certification is a certification but a Degree has its value! if u know that u would stay here in Paksitan. dont waste ur money, time and efforts on ACCA.
and let me tell u a ground reality. many many students in pakistan join ACCA cause they think its easy, they will complete in like 2 years and start articleship in the second year and complete within no time. and also because they will get lots of "BURGER GIRLS"
another fact, for instance u fail in any examination, u would not believe it but its true, that u will get so frustrated that u might even leave ACCA altogether. i have seen many people who once failed, got so disappointed they left ACCA.
and its a psychological fact that once u finish ur studies u will feel like , and infact u should feel like, u should be given at least 5 figure starting pay above 50K or something. and why not, u have already spend AT LEAST,
- 1700+ UK Pounds for ACCA fees (Registration fee, CBEs fee, papers fee, annual subscription fee etc)
- 500,000 Paki Rupees (Tuition fee)
- 50,000 to 60,000 Paki rupees (Books, registers, transport etc) [NOT including clothing and recreational money like entertainment, eating out, personal expenses etc!]
that makes it all roughly Rs 86000 and thats just a rough estimate. it surely can increase or decrease but not by that big of a margin.
so think before u start if off!
so, i will recommend to every body who is newly intermediate to avoid ACCA. if;
- u want to save urself from too much hardwork with no so compelling result
- u want to get a proper degree, BBA, BA, BComm etc
- u belong to a middle class family and u dont have a good financing back and dont need to get ur self stuck into something that needs a lot of money, effort, TIME, and lots of BRAINS!
u dont believe what i said, go search market for a finance job, audit and accounting job. most of the times u will find BComm degree holders working there and ACCAs just wandering around for a good job.
now, being part of ACCA, i m not saying its just plain useless to join ACCA. it provides a lot of opportunities. u just need to do ur homework. u have to plan. u need a pretty solid financier. u should definitely have great interest towards maths. anybody who does not have interest in Maths should not even look towards ACCA. its easy in the beginning but it get tougher as u go along. u should know that u will be comfortable to work a lot harder than other fields.
unless, ofcourse u have some one supporting u for easy job, like some relative or someone with ties in good position in an Approved Employer Organization.
but thats very rare and this perk is not available to everyone, right?
PS:
this all was my personal point of view and a very genuine advise-***-suggestion to everybody, based on my experience. ur experience can be better than mine or even worst. i told the ground reality of the market. u can experience it ur self.
and before starting "ACCA" u should know that u belong to a country where its very very easy to attack an INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT and which is undergoing ARMED FORCES OPERATIONS all over the country. do u think any multinational company would continue its operations here, sans new ones coming here for business???
THINK...!
