Will a SSD drive work fine with my motherboard?

If you're planning to install a SATA3 SSD, well then you wont be taking the maximum benefit of it as a G33 motherboard only has SATA2 ports. Hence, your SSD would only be taking advantage of SATA2 speeds.

As I said, you wont be taking full advantage of SATA3 SSD's as your motherboard only has a SATA2 port.

SATA3 Read Speed = 550 mbps
SATA3 Write Speed = 510 mbps

SATA2 Read and Write would be much below 300 mbps.

Try to upgrade your platform first and then get an SSD but in the end.

^^ yes ...a lot of ssd for sata 2.0 are present..
get sata 2.0 ssd since u dont have a sata 3.0 support on ur board

Your motherboard doesn't has SATA-III doesn't makes the whole SSD unusable, you can still use use it. There's not much performance difference in real life between SATA-II and SATA-III, therefore I'd rather suggest find a "used" SATA-II SSD, it'll come cheaper.

That said, for gaming, SSD should be your last priority. Invest the same amount on a better CPU and GPU.

U are running a very old and very slow Quad Core Processor and u havent mentioned ur GPU
For Gaming ur better of spending money on upgrading ur CPU or GPU

After u have a satisfactory Processor and a capable GPU should u worry about investing in an SSD

PS: Buying a SATAII SSD or running a SATAIII SSD on a SATAII Port defeats the purpose of this investment

y wats wrong. not a gud thing to say. ssd will give his system a new life. overall responsiveness will improve. besides real life benefits of sata 2 vs 3 are not substantial.

SSD should very low on ur Priority List

My friend,the guy wants an ssd for gaming. how do you expect a ssd to be of any use if he has a old platform relatively slow in gaming?
