This card has really impressed me. 5-7% less than the 4850/GTS 250...with just 128-bit interface..and such low power consumption.... I easily overlooked the HD4800 series, but this 128-bit monster just might be the best $100 card ever. Crossfire them and you are looking at a high-end setup in $200!!! Fabulous. Nvidia's in trouble!!!

We don't know ATI RV870 specs. Isn't it too early to predict an nVIDIA victory when we clearly see that ATI/AMD has the manufacturing edge over nVIDIA.

if they make it 256 bit, it will cross 4850 in performance and then it will not be selling for $99, it will go to about $150.....

btw i have this baby on my list for my next gpu upgrade over 9600 gt.....(2t)

Yeah so they are renaming the cards.... I never fell for it. I dont give a rats ass. But just fyi, the GT300 is a completely new architecture...and theres no renaming this time. The GTX 380 is said to have 512 shader processors...almost double of what we saw on the GTX 285.

I was referring to the continuous renaming of G92b not the GT300. know you can see that their continuous renaming hasn't done anything good to their pockets. Rumors yeah if it comes to rumors then I can say RV870 is a 1600SP,32ROP,96TMU and 2.5 Teraflops monster. ATI's main target is the performance per buck advantage over the competition not just performance advantage. hmm so with 512 Shaders it will be another over 500mm2 die which again wont do any good to their finances.

RV740 is a king in it's segment it is not just performance per buck king but it is a performance per watt king too.

with no offence why do you think you have always an answer to any post and i am feeling that whenever any thread is posted regarding performance of a card or processor you intentiuonaly take it to an argument war. Kindly avoid this attitude neither i nor any one is getting these stuff for free so please close this stupid Intel Vs AMD and/or NIVIDIA VS ATI kind of debates. Now donot refer my previous thread. Its for future onwards.

Honestly i also used to have a 8800 GTS, 9800 GT, 6600 GT etc etc and Q6600, E2200 etc etc but i prefer to have an AMD, but its not necessary that i try to impose my linkings on others. Moreover, all members are surely having combinations

Dude...with all due respect...im not the one posting threads in favor of one beloved brand. I simply counter it by posting that the view you posted are biased and there are better options out there. And I post benchmarks and state facts to prove my argument and not simply say "oh AMd is better its cheap".
I am a proud owner of AMD too. I currently have AMD Athlon X2 3800+ and works amazingly well for what its worth. My last 2 video cards were Radeon X1950 series. And if I hadn't bought the evga motherboard which was an impulse buy, I would've loved to have a 4870 1gb...but due to other reasons Im sticking with nvidia so I have sli as an option down the road. Sorry to give you the wrong impression... but if I was to declare a war, I wouldnt be the one starting this thread now would I? And clearly saying that ATi has a rock solid card, when I myself own Nvidia.
Now if someone is blatantly posting, "oh AMD rocks its this or that, so now remember other than the members, there are hundreds of guests browsing these forums too. Some come here to seek information. Now if they read such biased opinions, how does that make our forum look? Atleast I engage in a healthy conversation based on facts. Now if you want to take it personally, thats upto you.

I dont get this product.

Unless ATi/AMD are taking off the HD4830, they are basically screwing themselves with this card. They had a pretty neat HD4670/4830/4850 lineup taking care of the budget-mainstream level.

Why would they take out another card which performs exactly the same like something they bruoght on the market not so long ago ?

They've been jumping around ever since the HD48xx series came out ... and its been a while ... and they are still jumping around.

Looks like they are going to jump around for a while.
