You can’t say “ground-breaking first person shooter” without mentioning the Half-Life series in the same breath. Since its initial release on the PC in 1998, the series has garnered overwhelming critical acclaim as well as commercial success. Crowbar-wielding Gordon Freeman fanboys have been frothing for Valve’s next concoction – Half-Life 2: Episode 3 – for over a year. When E3 came and went with nary a whisper about the next installment, it stung like a headcrab bite. Good news is—Episode 3 is still in the works. The bad news: Half-Life 3 is a few years off.
While it’s been known for a while that Valve is working on Half-Life 3 (slowly, no doubt, considering the source), the lack of solid information on their Half-Life 2 swansong has been disconcerting. Fans have long-speculated what fate awaits Gordon Freeman as he struggles to free mankind from the grasp of the alien Combine once and for all. Recent artwork (seen below) depicting a face-to-slobbering-face showdown between the bespectacled hero and a menacing Adviser (the telekinetic masterminds of Earth’s invasion) got people talking, as did the various crossover possibilities cryptically alluded to in Episode 2 and Portal.
Considering Valve’s slow-natured approach to development and the fact that all they had to show off during E3 were a few beautiful, yet vague art pieces, don’t expect Half-Life 2: Episode 3 this year. However, if their past work is any indication, Episode 3 will be a mind-blowing experience that no one should miss, no matter the wait.

They don't need to tell me to anticipate this game. Am already dying for it.
Just give me a release date so that I can draw lines on my room's walls and cross them.

Not surprising.HL2 took 6 years to develop.Still Episode 3 is coming before the end of 09 hopefully. I hope this series goes for a long LONG time.

Honestly, Valve is really bad at marketing. Halos, Gears, BioShocks sell in millions with the help of xpensive marketing. HL series scores millions without that much marketing I mean look at THE ORANGE BOX box art. Does it really entice new people to the series.

I'm really glad that I've been able to play HL in 1998 and been following Valve since then. Halos, Gears, BioShocks although epics but are relatively new aimed at new gen hardcore gamers.

A gamer can't call himself a FPS fan or a PC gamer without playing HALF-LIFE

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

They could've sold the studios instead of closing them, but the nazi bastards just didn't want competition down the road.

So i just found out that f***ing s***bag Microsoft shut down Arkane Studio (makers of the brilliant Dishonored series) and Tango Gameworks (makers of the iconic The Evil Within series), among some other studios. I just want to say a giant F*** Y**! to Microsoft. THEY'VE F***ED UP BIG TIME this time.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
