Grid 2 is a combination of NFS and GRID 1.

I dont care about the Driver Cams as it is very unnatural to play a video game with such restrictive angle.

Grid 2 is a perfect mix of arcade and Sim racing. It avoids the wholesale ridiculousness of an arcade racer and the borefest of a typical SIM.

I a enjoying it alot and if you are a casual racing genre fan then Grid 2 has loads to offer.

DiRT2 and 3 focus on a different style of racing i.e. Rally. Their difficulty level and variety is completely different than GRID franchise. We shouldn't compare these two separate franchises.

Guess what, DiRT2 had a miles better art work than DiRT3 and I enjoyed DiRT2 much more than 3. I wasn't expecting a major fckup on Codemaster's behalf (once again) in the form of GRID2, after DiRT3 <_<

However, the Engines the games developed on, the control schemes and the Visual eye candy remain the same on all of them.

I still have DiRT2, DiRT 3, GRID 1 in my PC and i do enjoy them from time to time.

I dont care about the Driver Cams as it is very unnatural to play a video game with such restrictive angle.
Actually those driver cams help different play styles vastly. And guess what, even in NFS: Underground, I had to use the Bumper Camera to be able to Cut Corners inorder to Win some hard races and attain quicker lap times. And tell you what, if you are playing GRID 2 now (assuming you have played the first one), you will feel it x3 more difficult to race while using "Close/Far" camera.

Grid 2 is a perfect mix of arcade and Sim racing. It avoids the wholesale ridiculousness of an arcade racer and the borefest of a typical SIM.
Did you say Sim? :tv:

Okay I can accept it for GRID 1, but 2? Seriously? We can't even set the Dead Zones of our Accelerator, Brakes and Streeing. Sim my arse.

I don't disagree with the rest, assuming its being said for GRID franchise, as a whole.

I am enjoying it alot and if you are a casual racing genre fan then Grid 2 has loads to offer.
I am a Racing Nut. So its obvious i will still be able to enjoy it. Unfortunately, my level of enjoyment and enthusiasm has been cut to less than HALF in GRID 2.

I have played NFS Most Wanted with more interest than GRID 2. <_<

________

Anyway, a couple of races in the game and i am already down to using Manual Gears. Its interesting this way. Plus, if you guys notice ... to be able to control the car well, Manual Gears are far better than Automatic.

Have won several of those Faceoff Races easily with the help of Manual Gears. :looking:

Its BAD, Bad Mofo! :( Because this way it feels like GRID 0.5 (not 2) ... with some features trimmed down, to do it All Over Again.
Na man! Okay, I hear you about how it might not be a complete overhaul over Grid 1, but I'd say it's Grid 1.5 to say the least! And I'm basing my opinion on only 4 races. And even if it is Grid 1.5, it's way more fun than most racing games that came out in the last five years.

I think you're taking it too seriously. If you take it for what it is, a fast paced arcade style racer with excellent drift mechanics and AI you really have to battle against, you'll enjoy it more. It's not supposed to be the next GT or Forza.

FUN. Yes, we can say that.

I think you're taking it too seriously.
I have always been enthusiastic about Codemaster's racing games, especially two franchises, GRID & DiRT.

There is a reason why i am taking it seriously.

If you take it for what it is, a fast paced arcade style racer with excellent drift mechanics and AI you really have to battle against, you'll enjoy it more.
You know what, I kinda agree on this part. Sure i can take it for what it is and not criticize it for what its not (which i am not actually) ... this is exactly what you are mentioning it.

But i just can't get out of my system the Missing Parts of GRID franchise from this game.

It's not supposed to be the next GT or Forza.
Never said that and never expected it to compete with games like that as well. But that 'slight touch' of simulation (which i liked) is also gone now. Whats left, is not enough to be ingested as FUN. (It still is though).

__________

Anyway, coming back to the game.

I have just completed TWO of the WSR Events and Won another car, the Dodge Charger in an Invitational Event (because i picked Chevy Camero earlier).

The new type of event i came across, was Dynamic Racing ... well, kind of. Because there was No Map, no Directions. Turns which were there One Lap, won't be there on Next Lap. Basically, its Corner by Corner racing. Hell that sounds so difficult, imagine how difficult it'd be on track. Well ... IT IS. So brace yourselves for some hard core racing. :p

Another thing i found Wrong in this game.
Damage Levels: Anyone noticed it? As compared to previous games, GRID 1, DiRT 1 & 2 ... the separate amount of damage for Wheels, Engine, Drive Terrain, IS GONE.
Codemasters ..... (y) ...... <_<

It was annoying because there was No Penalty of any sort when i hit the Sidewalks. Once i hit so hard that it should've bursted my front tire's alignment, but it did nothing. :S Engine Light only turned ON w/ that dude claiming the Engine to be Overheating. lol

abobobilly Haha Bro I said Grid is great for Casual racing fans. You are a diehard racing fan. Ofcourse you are much critical of finer details. And yes you are right, some of the manual configuration of car handling is missing.

You are a diehard racing fan.
Don't know man. Maybe i am spoiled with the Racing Experience provided by Shit 2 :( Or maybe i am too enthusiastic about other Racing Games that i find it extremely annoying when some very useful features are cut out from a game because of no reason.

Ofcourse you are much critical of finer details. And yes you are right, some of the manual configuration of car handling is missing.
YES. THAT.

THANK YOU

FINALLY ... someone agrees.

Cockpit camera mod: Grid_Modders_Camera's V1.2.rar

“Ok I can now confirm that the old camera mod works with GRID 2. If anyone wants to use it, choose a cameras.xml file out of the mod I posted above and copy/paste it into each car models folder, replacing the original. (I used the Lamborghini one, in folder ‘Lam’ in the mod files) MAKE SURE TO CREATE A BACK UP OF ALL YOUR CAR/MODEL FOLDERS FIRST”

Hokay, so ... the Mod. I was able to enjoy the two races to full potential but there are some MAJOR problems with this mod. Not criticizing or anything.
- Because the new cars don't specifically have a cockpit camera view for them, most of the cars are not featuring their original interior. Which means, Codemasters don't have the data for it either.
- The amount of camera to cycle through, is cumbersome. Not practical. Because even if you accidentally hit the camera button, you are out of the race :p (its also mentioned in the readme file)

In the end, I am back to where i started. I can't say about the "Potential" of this mod since the Original Data for the newer cars is not available (by data i mean the Original Interior of cars), i fail to understand how modding community will be able to do it. So i am not keeping up hopes for it either.

NO COCKPIT ? Whaaaaaaaat ?

Need for Speed TWO of all games had cockpits ffs!

Is the handling any good ? First Grid was AWEFUL! No feel. You either had grip to the extent of it being magnetized to the ground .... or you just lost it.

Sire Ahsan! Exactly my expressions.

All the Codemasters games have NO FEEL of Car. Even their DiRT Franchise racing games. Also that stupid Simulation game released last year by the name of "F1" (disgrace).

It seems they never focused on such (puny?) thingy while their main focus has always been FUN.

I will be a liar if i say GRID 2 is NOT FUN ... because IT IS. However, the level is just not close to GRID 1.

Another thing, in GRID2, Driving has gone more ... DRIFT style. Now cars' rear end shakes more than the ass of a chick. Every corner is, if you want to cross Faster, HAVE to be drifted out of. Thats not very ... real, but hey ITS FUNN. But then again, having No Cockpit View kills HALF of that fun because you won't be able to take most of the turns 99% accurate :p

Still ... A WORTHY GAME.

Hell i already have >200k fans :D (thats what she said :\)

Is there a way to remove sponsors? They spare no effort in making the car look ugly.

wAnxTa! Nope. Once they are chosen, there is no way to Remove then. At best you can Tweak their colors to make them look less awkward. Combine them with Cusotm Livery, mods and set of wheels and you will have a "Sporty" looking car.

They don't look bad though. Actually awesome given the right set of Liveries, Colors applied.

Omg. There is this race in GRID 2 where you have to push through traffic. Every pass you make counts for 100 Points and CLEAN passes (w/o collisions) are necessary in order to gain points. One hit and its back to Zero.
And you are competing against ONE opponent :-D

And MAN its frigging difficult. AND SO DAMN FUNNN.

Extreme level Agility, Aggression, Skill and Patience is required.
Every pass we make , is supposed to be done with STYLE.

The way our car Cuts through Traffic, left right left right, changing lanes ... FUXKING LOVING IT.

THIS is where I am badly missing those Dead Zone settings , especially for Braking :-(

Its the 20th time I have restarted that race by just can't get myself to win. Opponent wins everytime.

I did play one of such Promo Events before WSR started, but didn't like it because of stupid car and track.

BUT NOW, now I am on a Mountain Road, with a MUSTANG (yeah baby) ...

> 1.5 million fans :bd2: I don't know if i should be happy :\

Since i am a racing nut, honestly speaking, I am LOVING it. Lets talk about what this game does have better.
+ More variety in Races
+ Better car models (slightly more detailed and higher res)
+ More tracks, more fun
+ Better garage experience. The atmosphere makes you feel you are really in that place. Those people seen outside the doors, the ambient noises does make you feel at home.
+ Main menu music is ... Soothing. Quietly Brilliant.

You can judge from the fans that i have already given it sufficient time to judge the game regardless of the fact that i am enjoying it to its fullest (probably because its a 'racing' game and because i am huge lover of GRID series)

The game is Piss Easy even on highest difficulty.

I mean every single word. IT SO IS. After getting better grip on cars, you can beat the most difficult opponent with such ease.

I have literally beaten those friggin Tier 2 cars with a Stupid Chevy Camaro (old one). Manual gears help me A LOT on heaving my desired control on the cars.

Following is what i didn't specifically like:
-Togue events have stricter conditions now, for example No Contact. But at the same time A LOT easier because if you Restart, only That round will restart. Previously, IF you restart, you'd have to go through ALL of the stages again inorder to beat your opponent. That made you really think before you hit the Restart or even the Flashback button (because of ONE or NO flashback on highest difficulty)

-Availability of too many flashbacks even on the highest difficulty. And the duration is just insane. I can literally rewind back two complete corners to get them right. :S

-Damage on Car is very very forgiving. There is no Engine Blowouts, no Tires Brusts ... nothing of that sort. But sometimes, the slightest contact totals your car. A Bug? Perhaps. But STUPID. Plus, i don't have to mention the damage indicator. One Caution Sign? WTF?

-Drift Focused. No feel to the car. Can't seem to disable that stupid Stability Control on the car. AND because of that, Rear Brake is the new Handbrake.

-Drift Events ... No more "multiplier" shizz. You don't need to keep your multiplier stready inorder to improve the score. You don't have to be so close to those markets inorder to score more. Yep. Piss Easy.
