[h=1]Gotham: James Remar Cast as Gordon’s Uncle[/h]
Amidst all the insanity and corruption that tends to run rampant in Gotham, the one man often tasked with upholding the the ideals of justice and morality is GCPD detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie). Granted, Gordon is himself far from a perfect person, and he’d likely readily admit that fact to anyone challenging some of his questionable past deeds. In the end, though, Gordon still does his best to do the right thing, both for those he loves and the city he calls home.
One person Gordon has always made an extra effort to do right by is Bruce Wayne, the billionaire orphan who will of course one day grow up to defend Gotham as Batman. Gordon and Bruce have shared a close bond ever since the two first met on the night the latter’s parents were murdered in the street. Part of this attachment may be due to both essentially being orphans, with Gordon having lost his father Peter Gordon to a car accident at a young age, and Gordon’s mother also seemingly having been out of the picture for quite some time.
With that in mind, TV Line reports Gordon’s lack of family is about to change in a big way, via the introduction of his uncle Frank Gordon. Played by prolific character actor James Remar (Dexter) Frank hasn’t been in contact with Jim since the car crash that killed Peter decades prior. According to the official character description, Frank is a “master at playing both sides” and “harbors a dark secret” that will throw Jim’s life into a state of disarray and turmoil, forcing him “into a terrible choice between saving his family and saving his city.”

As mentioned above, Remar is perhaps best known for his work as Dexter’s adoptive father Harry Morgan, the man who instilled his serial killer son with the unconventional moral code that guided his life. An in-demand actor since his turn as Ajax in 1979 cult classic The Warriors, Remar has lent his talents to a wide variety of films and TV shows, including CBS’ short-lived but well-remembered apocalyptic drama Jericho and HBO’s Sex and the City. He also memorably played Raiden in the video game adaptation sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
Remar will begin playing Frank Gordon in early 2017. He’s also set to play a recurring role on the second season of Hulu’s acclaimed drama The Path next year as well. Remar has previously shown a knack for playing manipulative characters, and it sounds like Frank will be no exception. For Gotham’s sake, here’s hoping Jim has the strength to put the well-being of the city’s residents above that of his deceptive uncle.
The Gotham season 3 fall finale airs Monday, November 28 on FOX.

[h=1]Gotham’s Erin Richards On Barbara Becoming Harley Quinn[/h]

For three seasons now, FOX’s crime series Gotham has slowly revealed the untold story of how Batman’s hometown came to be populated with enough villains to warrant its own asylum. In this incarnation, while Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) grows up in Wayne Manor on his way to becoming the Dark Knight, out in the city Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) has been risking his life and reputation to fight crime and corruption wherever he finds it. A new villain is being born every week in Gotham, as the city that will eventually need Batman’s saving slowly takes shape.
One important villain, however, that hasn’t quite been revealed as of yet is the Joker. Former Arkham Asylum inmate Jerome Valeska was the leading contender for the role, until he was killed last season and his memory subsequently turned into a legacy. There are now a lot of copycats vying for that top spot, but so far the writers have remained silent and only teased at who will become Batman’s most formidable foe. Yet there is another very important villain who could soon be revealed: the Joker’s paramour Harley Quinn.

On the surface, it seems that Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Jim Gordon’s ex-fiancee and a former member of Jerome’s group the Maniax, may be Gotham’s female version of the Joker. She’s already crazy and has her own version of the trademark grin. Yet it’s just as likely that she could instead become the Joker’s sidekick Harley Quinn. Indeed, Richards admits to CinemaBlend in that the idea has already been discussed:
“There have been conversations. I think something major would have to happen to Barbara for her to fully become Harley Quinn. Because Harley Quinn is kind of… she doesn’t, to me, have the motivation that Babs has. Harley Quinn seems to like destruction for destruction’s sake, and that’s wonderful, but I feel like Barbara has more of a plan. She’s a little bit more intellectual in her approach toward climbing the ladder and taking over the underworld. And I think if she was to then morph into Harley Quinn, there would have to be something that happened that sort of stripped away that kind of scheming side of her so that she would just become, I guess, unhinged in the world. That, to me, is what Harley Quinn represents. That madness and mayhem that comes along with The Joker, because obviously, they’re a team.”

According to Richards, Barbara isn’t quite unhinged enough to take on the mantle of Harley Quinn just yet, but its not like we haven’t seen her in that mindset before. Back in early season 2, the character lost some of her more rational behavior and succumbed to all the craziness. Richards agrees that would have been the best moment for the transition:
“I think Barbara had her moment of madness and mayhem early on in Season 2 after the Ogre, and then she went to Arkham and she sort of lost herself a little bit and just wanted to be this dark being. And then after she fell out of the church window and went into the coma and came back out and remembered her attachment to Jim as sort of a loving attachment, and didn’t really remember the murdering of her parents and that kind of stuff. So she’s like another being now, and I think that being is not so close to the Harley Quinn character, even though she’s still obviously a little crazy, but she now has more of a ruthless nature to her.”
That’s not to say that her falling out of reality couldn’t happen again, but for right now it appears that Barbara is really focused on trying to start a war between the Penguin and the Riddler. And she has a lot of cards up her sleeve (so to speak), with the Penguin’s love of the Riddler taking center stage lately and the recent death of Riddler’s girlfriend Isabella at the hands of the Penguin. For all we know, Barbara’s attempts to become the queen of Gotham’s underworld could fail, and she might end up even more fractured and broken than when she started this whole game. We can only know the truth in time.

[h=1]Gotham Adds Raymond J. Barry in Recurring ‘Temple Shaman’ Role[/h]

Gotham is the FOX television series that tells the story of a young James Gordon and a young Bruce Wayne on their concurrent journeys to becoming Police Commissioner of Gotham and Batman, respectively. The show is currently in it’s third season and, as such, a number of heroes and villains have both joined and departed the ranks of Gotham.
With many of the staple Batman villains already having made appearances on Gotham (Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Penguin), they are having to delve deeper into the comics history in order to bring foes – and friends – into contact with Bruce Wayne.
A new report from Deadline has revealed that Raymond J. Barry (Justified, The 100) will be playing a “temple Shaman” – so, anyone at home with their copies of Batman: Shaman lying around will want to catch up on their readings now. Shaman will reportedly play prominently opposite David Mazouz’s young Bruce Wayne with the intention of unlocking the potential of his own mind. He states that the fate of Gotham is dependent on Bruce Wayne becoming the man the city needs him to be, although the truth behind Shaman’s motive may be far less noble than it initially appears.

If Shaman takes young Bruce Wayne under his wing only to lead him astray there is an interesting potential for conflict between him and Bruce’s guardian – and father figure – Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee). There is a chance, if this were to come to pass, that viewers would get a better look into Alfred’s combative past. This is not the first time that Bruce Wayne has come up against a metahuman foe, but it seems to be shaping up to be a powerful experience for the soon-to-be-vigilante to have with a mystical character.
Shaman also presents a compelling foe for show lead James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to have to deal with. This is a villain that he can’t simply chase down and slap some handcuffs on and hope that a jail cell is enough to keep him off the streets for a while. In particular, if Shaman is able to form a close bond with Bruce Wayne, Gordon is going to have an uphill battle with this character.
Barry has played a wonderful villain on the small screen before and managed to bring a nuanced performance to characters that could be reduced to the simple description of “bad guy”. This sets the bar high for his performance on Gotham and it may also be a way to lend some gravitas to what, at first blush, may seem to some to be one of the show’s more silly characters.
Conversely, Gotham has a habit of painting its villains in broad strokes, which can sometimes leave them feeling cheesy and underdeveloped compared to some other DCTV shows currently on the air. If Shaman is shaping up to be just another mustache twirling baddie with a gimmick, then fans may be disappointed in the character.
Gotham returns to FOX on January 16, 2017.

New episode was great.

Nygma really destroying Penguin. I'm surprised carmine falcone called off the hit, because of lee....or was it the owls? So Alfred and Selina's mum might have romance...and she has debts to to pay. Looks like Jerome's return has been set up!

Sad news, 2 more episodes( ep 13 and ep 14) and show will go on a long ass break. It will return April 28th with 15th episode. :( Same with lucifer

[h=1]Gotham Producer Teases Harley Quinn Appearance in Season 3 Finale[/h]

Not long before the season 3 premiere, producers of FOX’s Gotham were keen to establish a connection between the Batman prequel series and the burgeoning DC Extended Universe, especially in the wake of the box office success of Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad. At the time, producer John Stephens discussed the likelihood that two key Squad members and primary Bat-villains, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc, would soon make an appearance on the weekly crime procedural, though it was stated that the two might have to wait until another Batman nemesis made his appearance first.
Now, as Gotham readies ‘Ghosts’, the season 3 midseason premiere heavily promoting the return (and apparent resurrection) of proto-Joker Jerome Valeska, the road toward an appearance by a certain bat-wielding member of the Squad may have been partially cleared. At least that’s what producer John Stephens recently teased when asked whether or not fans could expect an appearance by Quinn anytime soon. To his credit,

As reported by TV Guide, the Suicide Squad star might show up in Gotham as early this season – or the season finale, to be exact. “We might see [her] in Episode 22,” Stephens said. Though he didn’t elaborate further in terms of the exact specifics of her role, he did mention that Harley’s appearance would serve a much larger purpose than a simple Bat-villain cameo, as her arrival will act as a “launching point” for the upcoming season 4 storyline. At that point, Stephens was sure to mention, “it’s crazy, though the report didn’t specify if he was referring to Harley’s appearance, the season 4 plot or both. The good money is on both.

There was no mention of the actor assigned to play Quinn, but that should come as no surprise. There has been plenty of speculation that former Jim Gordon love interest Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) would take up the mantle of the character, but that is far from confirmed at this point, and even Richards herself has pooh-poohed the notion. Moreover, earlier this summer, producer Ken Woodruff suggested that the character of Harley Quinn might have already been introduced, and fans simply didn’t know it yet.
The producers having that sort of guessing game at the ready helps explain why they would spill the beans on the arrival of such an anticipated character so far ahead of time. Knowing the likelihood of a Harley Quinn appearance is good will no doubt afford Gotham a profile boost among comic book fans curious to see what the series does with the character and what her arrival means for the future of the titular city. Given that Harley’s comic book love interest (or a proto version of him anyway) seems set for an appearance, Gotham may be looking at a clownish crime wave in its future.
