Sekiro, Bomberman battle royale, and more coming to Google Stadia

Google announces 16 new Stadia titles, exclusive deals with Harmonix and Supermassive

Google announced 16 new titles coming to Stadia, the tech company’s game streaming service, including FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a new battle royale-style Bomberman game, and an exclusive from developer Splash Damage called Outcasters.

Outcasters, described as a “vibrant and accessible competitive online multiplayer game set in a distinctly stylised vinyl world,” joins Orcs Must Die! 3 as a Stadia exclusive. Three more exclusive games are coming to Stadia from Rock Band developer Harmonix, Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games, and Submerged developer Uppercut Games.

Konami will bring Super Bomberman R Online, a battle royale take on the multiplayer series, first to Stadia. The online game will support up to 64 players and feature Stadia’s Crowd Play feature. Super Bomberman R Online is based on Super Bomberman R, which was released for Nintendo Switch in 2017.

The addition of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be a true test of Stadia’s latency promises, given that game’s near frame-perfect tolerances during intense boss battles.

The following games were also confirmed for Google Stadia:

  • One Hand Clapping
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3
  • Serious Sam 4
  • Outriders
  • WWE 2K Battlegrounds
  • PGA Tour 2K21
  • NBA 2K21
  • Hello Neighbor and Hello Neighbor: Hide & Seek

YouTube Premium subscribers can now get a free Google Stadia bundle

At least you get a free Chromecast

Google is trying out a new way to get the Google Stadia cloud gaming platform into more homes ... by literally giving it away. Google is now giving free Stadia bundles to anyone who is subscribed to YouTube Premium.

YouTube Premium subscribers can now get a free Stadia Premiere Edition bundle, which normally costs $99.99. The bundle includes a Stadia controller, and also a Chromecast Ultra, which players can connect to their TV to play Stadia games there. Unfortunately, the bundle doesn’t come with a Stadia Pro subscription, which costs $9.99 a month, although new customers get one free month of Stadia Pro, while Google One subscribers get three months.

A YouTube Premium subscription costs $11.99 a month, but if you wanted to jump on board now in hopes of getting this Stadia bundle, it seems that won’t work. According to a screenshot from Twitter user RandomNoobYT, it looks like the deal only works if you were a subscriber before Nov. 6, which makes this a bonus only enjoyed by those who were already committed to YouTube Premium. This also means that you can’t just start up the YouTube Premium free trial and score yourself the Stadia deal.

Even if you don’t want this Stadia bundle, or don’t plan on keeping the service after the trial, you can still get the free Chromecast out of the deal, so it’s probably still worth redeeming if you’re eligible.

Correction: An earlier version of the post stated that Stadia Pro’s trial period lasted 10 days, however, new Stadia users actually get one free month of Stadia Pro, while Google One subscribers get three free months of Stadia Pro. The post has been updated to reflect the correct information.
