GTA 5: Call of Duty Wants its Records Back

Call of Duty: Ghosts publisher Activision has thrown down the gauntlet, warning Grand Theft Auto V developer Rockstar not to get too comfortable with all the records its broken.


In an interview with MCV, UK senior brand manager Kevin Flynn dismissed the idea that the Call of Duty brand is in decline, arguing the imminent release of Call of Duty: Ghosts will be a wake-up call to other companies that think they dominate the marketplace.

"Congratulations to the team at Rockstar for their success," he said, before adding, "We look forward to getting the record back before the next GTA title.


"We know that our unaided awareness for Ghosts is leading the way against other unreleased triple-A titles. Our digital content has proven extremely popular and Black Ops II has sold more than 3m units in the UK."


For anyone not in the loop, Grand Theft Auto V currently holds seven Guinness World Records, and managed to snatch several of those from the Call of Duty franchise, including the fact that it's now the UK's fastest-selling game ever.

I doubt it. COD has gone to shit after MW1. They're just trying to hype it up so everyone gets aboard the hypetrain.

It probably won't be better, but it'll without a doubt come very close to GTA 5's record.

Well cod has pc users aswell n ps4 and xbox one soo... But i dnt think it will dominate GTA V sales counting ps3 n xbox360 only

Nah, COD can't beat it.
GTA 5 had 5 years of anticipation and hype. COD releases every year. It will sell well like always but won't break the records set by GTA 5.

Let's see, GTA 5 set all those records on two platforms only. Ghosts has the hype of next-gen behind it & a total of five major platforms excluding the abysmal Wii U. It 'll be close for sure. (sm1)

Maybe not the fastest billion one, but I'd say they have a pretty good chance. I know I'll buy a copy.

Also you know they're gonna count the upgrades as separate sales - so this will be the best selling COD of all time by quite the margin.

It doesnt matter if GHOST is any good or bad than previous COD games but it will surely beat its own records if not of Gta 5 . (y)
