Hey everyone,

I'm actually looking to flip my Mac for a gaming laptop.

The 2 laptops that are currently being offered to me are as follows:

Option # 1: 16GB Ram, 512 GB HDD, 1660Ti, 15.6" 144 Hz screen, I7 8th Gen for Rs. 160k

Option # 2: GS75 Stealh 9sg, 32GB Ram, 1 TB SSD, RTX 2080 Max Q, 17 Inch 144 Hz screen, I9 9th Gen for Rs. 275k

Just wanted to know which one is a better bang for the buck. I have an Xbox Series X and I am looking for something that can play those games at equivalent settings. And maybe some switch emulation on the side.

I'd go with Option #2.

id have suggested to pick up an egpu for the mac if you wanted to work on it.
but you want to game, and macs just arent good gaming PCs.

so yeah option 2. but also try to find something like a 5600H with a 3060 instead of the 9th gen i9 and 2080 super.

cause option 2 will have overheating problems. severe ones

Gaming on laptop is horrible, aik to waise hee pc gaming pe stutters hay, uper se throttling on top!

Intel i9 chips are known to overheat very quickly in laptops!
Agreed 100 percent. At last, a response with some common sense.

The second option is especially bad, as i9 run insanely hot.

Here are some reviews about this laptop.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/eslkfj

You must read the comments online from actual owners before committing to an expensive purchase. Most complain about unresolvable heat-up heat up issues with i9 laptops.

Option 1 is suitable only for retro games released pre-2015.

Also, option 2 apart from heat up issues won't provide a comparable performance to Xbox Series X. You would need a system with at least an Nvidia RTX 3060 8GB to enjoy games at comparable performance (Source: Here).

If you really want a good laptop gaming system, you should consider the following laptops.

Most Value (Play most games at 1440p at high settings comparable and also exceeding the performance of latest gen consoles):

1. ASUS Tuf Gaming F15 FX507Zi - Alder Lake - 12th Gen Core i7 Tetradeca-Core Processor 16GB 1-TB SSD 8-GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX4070 GDDR6 GC 15.6" Full HD 1080p IPS 144Hz

Price: ₨ 465,000

2. ASUS ROG STRIX G16 G614JV-AS73 | 13TH GEN | Intel Core I7-13650HX (3.6 GHz) | 16GB DDR5 | 512GB SSD | 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060

Price: ₨ 493,999

You can enjoy a decent gaming experience today with the above laptops.
But if you want the best gaming experience without stutters in modern AAA games, I suggest a desktop gaming PCs like Thor 1.5 – Core I7 13700KF & RTX 4070 12GB (Rs. 553,000).

Gaming PCs has become unaffordable for the Most of Us. Consoles provide the best bang for the buck at the moment.

Thanks everyone.

Finally went with an alternate option. Got an Acer Predator Triton 500 with an I7 10750H, 32 GB Ram,1.5 TB NVME with a 2070 super. It was for 210k so right in the middle of the 2 options and I get to keep my series X as well.

Played Hogwarts legacy with Ultra settings at 1080p and it was a steady 60 fps at least in the starting area.

Can some one please point me in the right direction for an absolute NOOB Pc gamer. Things i should be looking at to optimize my gaming experience.

Nothing in particular really. Unless you want to monitor temps and frame times you could install MSI After Burner and Riva Tuner but that's about it. Windows 11 is pretty good I've never had to fiddle around with it.

But I've read that laptops switch to integrated GPU for power savings sometimes so maybe adjust some setting or power plan in Windows so you're always using the dedicated GPU when gaming. Again, @Chandoo would know better.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
