i still miss ashley coz i left her to die and feel bad for wrex. :( that poor bastard.

as long as i played the game i didn't want to believe that anything was fictional.
i had to put real thought into every decision i made. have to say. best game i've ever played.
p.s. i've just recently bought a graphic card and haven't played many games. so mind if u disagree.

Gears of war brought my love back for shooters,BUT the GOW series is the ONLY shooter series that I would play anytime of the day.

Silent Hill :eek:rigins made me break my control once <_<

so you can see how much of a 'psychological' effect it left on me!

Finally someone mentioned Crisis Core! :D

I was wondering how could PG forget a game with such an epic ending. Disappointed PG.

[FONT=&quot]Plenty, but I am going to name a few;

- Silent Hill 2 - The rebirth ending was haunting, yet beautiful. It was strange how Mary and James bond broke under the pressure of relationship. Unable to cope with Mary's condition, he killed her as an act of mercy, and was carrying her around, having lost that memory after the nervous break down. SH 2 is the most beautiful tale of passion, love, betrayal, lust I have ever played.

- Eternal Darkness - It is one of those few games that truly take the story telling to the next level. You literally read through the story of people struggling to maintain their sanity. Some survive, other die in horrible fates. This is one of the few games that everyone should never miss out on.

- Shadow of the colossus and ICO - These games are pure gems. It is strange and very agonizing to play through SOTC after ICO, because you know all his efforts for the girl were in vain, and they never truly could form the bond they had. I still cry whenever I end SOTC. You would have to be stone hearted not to get effected by the force of the ending.

- Fatal Frame series - Yes, this may be a niche market game, but FF truly are phenomenal story-driven games. Each and everyone of these games left an impression on me, one way or another.

- Drakengard - It's a shame that this game that takes game universe's verisimilitude to a whole new level, never got the recognition it deserved. If anyone really wants a taste of true, dark side of human consciousness, Drakengard gives you just that. For me, it was the last decent game from Sqaure.

- MGS 2 - This part touched the topic of child soldiers, and handled it with such sensitivity, that I can never begrudge Raiden. He remains my most favourite MGS character to date.

- Final Fantasy VII - Cloud, and Sephiroth's characters were the reason I ever got into JRPGs. Cloud being the more human, realistic...someone whom anyone can relate to.

- Resident Evil 3 Nemesis: Last Escape - I don't care what anyone says, 3 was the pinnacle of the series, and not a single enemy in RE universe can compare to 3's Nemesis. It was the first RE to incorporate good characterization and decent story telling. Too bad it all went to hell with 4.

- D - I don't know how many people played this game, but I thoroughly enjoyed this psychological thriller. Heavy Rain is closest to this game in terms of game play mechanics.

- Heavenly Sword - Breathtaking experience, from start to finish.

- There are many more, but, for now these are all I can remember.

Never played a game like Faranheit Indigo propohcy again..

Silent hill 4 the room: first half was ok but next part when walter sullivan came in real was creepy..

resident evil 2 & 4: RE2 was first game which i played on playstation.

Fatal Frame 2 and 3: best horror games infact better then any horror games.
I am glad there is someone else beside me here, who is a fan of the series. Do play the fourth part as well on an emulator as well. You won't be disappointed.

I'm actually astounded people write off MGS2 as a bad experience.

MGS2 had the most gripping storyline, Raiden's past ... The Patriots controlling the world and other leaders. It had the biggest levels of conspiracy theory and infact guns of the patriots was completely build upon it's storyline.

Even the whole concept of recruiting war children and training them to be assassins as happened to Raiden, is very brutally realistic and is probably the closest the series has come to realism.

However MGS fans are usually nothing more than fools jacking off to pictures of Snake rather than the game.
That's exactly why I liked RE2, and Raiden's character so much. It is as close to reality as a game can get. And yet, people downplay it, and Raiden's character, preferring that jack-ass Snake.

And the jerking off part is very true. Shameful, but true.

1) Elder Scrolls Oblivion: I didn't know what I had gotten myself into. By the time I was done with it, I'd invested over 300 hours in it. There was just so much to do in the game. But what left an impression on me is that it made me go on a journey to become a loremaster. I discovered all sorts of mindblowing stuff like the CHIM and the Dragon Breaks. It still leaves me in awe how everything is connected and how Bethesda came up with a series of video games with 4000 year history behind them not covered in the games.

2) Shadow of the Colossus. Do you need words? Such an epic game, with great gameplay and an awe-inspiring landscape. The ending didn't have any effect on me, though. What did was the feeling of isolation I had while the game and the fight with the second flying colossi. Not to mention it was one of the games I ever finished. The game spoke to me. It told me that games are more than just the toys media makes them out to be. They made a 11 year old boy understand that games were experiences. Oh, don't get me started on the Soundtrack. Koh Ohtani is a genius.

3) MGS3: Snake Eater. The game was incredibly varied in how it could make you laugh but then feel sadness. I cried for the first time in any video game when
Spoiler: show
Snake had to shoot The Boss. To top it off, with her OWN gun.

4) MGS4 GotP. The Shadow Moses Act. That act alone made the impression on me with all the soundtracks and flashbacks.

5) Gears of War 2. I am a PS3 fanboy. But an open-minded one, though. I borrowed my friend's 360 and played GoW2 on it. Understand that this was my first GoW. I loved the gameplay and immediately recognized what the million GoW fans loved so much about the series and what the PS fans were missing out on. Sure, in true PS3 fanboy style, I could go on and on about how the game is "grey" and has no story and is mindless and believe me, I was thinking the same until
Spoiler: show
Dom discovers his wife is dead. That scene is filled with artistic emotion.

6) Heavy Rain. The father-son bond? Classic. Made me go into emotional mode while I saw Ethan try his best to find his son. And not to mention the opening scene.

More as I recall...

I dont get why people rate Bioshock so highly.

Its a complete ripoff of the theory of "Objectivism" as portrayed by Ayn Rand, in her books "Atlas Shrugged" & "The Fountainhead".

Bioshock is a dumbed down version of the philosophy mixed with bits of anti-capitalist socialism.

If i was to rate games, i still regard SOTC as the best experience ever. I'm always sobbing at the end, it's such a hopeless tale of sacrifice. Agro's Death & Wander's corruption and death.

Xenogears, FFVII, FFVIII, Suikoden I & 2, Drakengard, Breath Of Fire 3.

Infact Suikoden explores the relationships between father/son, brother/sister and friends so beautifully. Only an idiot can ignore the game.

Flik's reaction at Odessa's death and final acceptance of the hero, to how it ends as Flik ending up as being his best friend.

Nier was a chilling game as well this generation, atleast the japanese version of it was much better. As the main hero in the game had an incestous relationship with his sister. To the game ending up as him fighting a shadow of himself from the future who let his obsession with his sister reach psychotic levels. It always kept u thinking that how much of this is brotherly love and how much is the impure idea of him and his sister fueling him. Eventually leading one to realize there is no difference between the two. Then there was the boy Emile, cursed with medusa eyes and living in isolation. Lonely and starved for friendship falls in love with a girl and abuses his power to protect her which only pushes his physical appearance to mutate further and transforms him into a grotesque monster. The irony is that the girl is actually a hermaphrodite and to keep her secret keeps a distance from Emile. Only gives him irregular attention and ignorance in bouts. This further corrupts and damages Emile's delicate persona and makes him think that he'll always be a monster no matter how much of a hero he dreams to be. Despite what his mother used to tell him about inner beauty, even saving the life of the girl he loves in an act of self-sacrifice isn't enough.

So thats the party in the game, an incestous brother, a tortured 13 year old boy and a hermaphrodite girl. Only brilliance can follow from there.

Yet i doubt anyone's even played the game.

Bravo for getting it right and making almost all the correct references.

There is more to Bioshock than just Objectivism and Authoritarianism and even taking bits out of B F Skinner.

Andrew Ryan became fascinated with the idea of Ubermensch, he built an underwater city, he let it be open to anyone willing to live a life not bogged down, held back by petty, legislated morality.

Eventually even the "free" society tends to crumble and subsequently Sofia Lamb is called in to set things straight but she wages a crusade against the Godlike Ryan. You get the feel of how Rapture came to its end when she says " Look around Andrew.. its raining in Rapture".

Ryan and Fontaine go banana republic after that. Trying to keep up with the power struggle, while the "free city" the city of " no gods, no kings, only men" is set ablaze by the very men that sought refuge there.

Bioshock IS a ripoff of many theologies, concepts and beliefs and its a magnificent portrayal of evolution, the human mind and how men would return to their most basic instincts and habits, no matter what.

Making something out of inspiration is not 'ripping-off'. Every game can be considered a rip-off of something else, going by such strict standards.

Credit should be given where it's due and not where it's not.

The average gamer will never have read such philosophical literature and wrongly attribute it to Bioshock's developers. That's my point, the theories and philosophies presented there are actually works of others that the game has simply borrowed.

When it comes to games and movies, a little trivia is always welcome. A homage here, a reference there keeps things interesting for those who get it.

Dam straight! That makes Bioshock the brilliant game it is. The developers put in the effort to make it an amazing experience by incorporating the philosophies and concepts into it. Without all that, it would have been just an average Steampunk FPS. Without the entire mindfuck factor of Bioshock it would have a steampunk replica of Quake 4.

Bioshock teaches you a very disturbing lesson in morality by giving you choices, rewarding you for them hence making you understand and subsequently live the consequences of your action.

Yeah, but that's not the developer's fault. They have clearly mentioned the references in interviews etc. (but the average gamer won't read that either)
