Sony is still gonna make top-notch exclusives, as they did the last-gen, and they'll eventually put them on PC. That's enough to keep them profitable and it'll also sell their consoles. But they'll need to do more for some future-proofing because a subscription service model like Game Pass can eventually make MS the leader in the industry.

Sony had PS Now which they could've evolved into something like Game Pass but their management is sh*t scared of risk and initiative. I realized this clearly when despite being the market leader and having an uber-successful PS4 generation behind its back, Sony was too afraid to reveal anything about the PS5 until MS played its card first. If you want to be a follower despite being a leader, that's what you deserve. Now copy-paste Game Pass.

I agree with this. Sony didn't do anything meaningful with the PS Now initiative. Though, I don't think it was about being scared. Rather, they simply don't have the finances to match what Microsoft is doing.

Meanwhile some think Warhawk can save PlayStation and be bigger than GTA, Call of Doody and FIFA :ROFLMAO:

On the flip side, Square Enix has seen its figures rise again over the last quarter. This is thanks to a substantial growth in Final Fantasy 14 subscribers, merchandise sales and expansion packs for its MMO games (via Daniel Ahmad).

The success of Final Fantasy 14 has certainly been astounding. The fact that sales of Final Fantasy 14 had to be temporarily suspended to account for the ongoing congestion issues in itself speaks volumes.

This makes it easy to assume that many of ABK's users, such as those who may have once spent their time on World of Warcraft, have jumped ship in favour of Square Enix's latest (and ongoing) offerings.
Yesterday, Activision Blizzard announced World of Warcraft will be coming to mobile later this year, which may entice players back once more. This mobile Warcraft project appears to be a standalone entity, with World of Warcraft and Hearthstone credited separately in the same report.
🤷‍♂️

They're not moving with an injunction to block the deal. They just want to get paid and/or concessions.

Between the lines: The FTC chose to file the complaint in its own administrative court, not in federal court.

  • The agency is not seeking a preliminary injunction to stop the deal from closing, so the two parties are still likely to close.

FTC has a very weak case.

The issue is that they have set the case deadline for August 2023. So unless they demand concessions from MS to pass the deal through sooner, this will take a very long time to resolve.

Or, MS could just back out of it like NVidia did with ARM.

This FTC lawsuit has made the case a lot more difficult for MS.

Microsoft is certainly making tempting acquisitions lately. I have been a Sony fan since the PS 1 bought in 1998. I have played and enjoyed most PS exclusives - Unchartered, The Last of US, Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts, Jack and Daxter etc.

But now I am thinking about making the switch to XBox Series X. The acquisition of Bethesda and the upcoming Activision has made Xbox a better value proposition than PS.

The latest gen - XBox Series X - console is cheaper (Rs. 50k less) than a PS5 in Pakistan. Also, the exclusives of Sony console particularly FF series have become stale and not a reason enough to cling to the console.
PS4 Pro will probably be my last Sony console.

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
