Donno i m lost!!

Don't be that guy please.

Do you see turn-basd combat here like Xenoblade? The open fields and the car driving were already shown/teased in the earlier trailers, this is nothing new. This is not even a traditional JRPG anymore, while Xenoblade still is. Lest not forget the graphics, which are insane compared to what we saw in Xenoblade.

Don't do it man. Just don't.

P.S if you think the car on world map is strange, did you not play FF VII?
the cat is out of the bag so no stopping it now :p

first xenoblade is NOT a turnbased JPRG (at least not in a traditional sense). its more like Crisis Core. heck calling Xenoblade traditional JPRG is not valid either. second i must have missed something but open fields gameplay was not shown on E3. thirdly Xenoblad is far more insane technically if u consider the system its running on. it doing things on a PS2 era hardware that would put FFXIII to shame. FFXV is borderline impressive for this gen.

and i dont have issues with cars, airships, chocobos or whatever on world maps as long as it works. and i don't remember driving a RR in FFVII lol

There was a buggy or whatever we call that in FF VII :p. We could drive it around the world map, lol. There were cars/vehicles in FF VIII as well.

The open world gameplay with the fields and stuff was shown way way back in 2011. It was in development for PS3 at that time, and there was no Xenoblade at that time :). We have finally see what the fields look like with the new graphics engine in this latest trailer.

Here is what it looked like on the PS3.

We even saw the glimpse of the car and the guys travelling in car, but that was CGI and not actual gameplay. We are finally shown it in actual gameplay now (unless it was cutscene or something)

The game was already supposed to be an open world game having a map like FF XII but taking it to a bigger scale. We can roam around the map in car, chocobos and possibly airships (no idea if they are still in or not) and fight monsters as we see them.

The one thing that I have to agree is that this trailer seemed to look like Xenoblade X reveal, in the sense of showing the Animals, Creatures etc. But to call it as copying a game, when it was their original goal all around, is not a good allegation.

So .. Nomura is no longer directing the game ..

In reviewing our development structure, we have decided to assign Hajime Tabata as the new director for Final Fantasy XV. Currently, Tabata and the entire development team are working, whole-heartedly, towards completing the production of Final Fantasy XV and ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Final Fantasy title to date. We invite every one of our fans to view the fruits of our labor through Final Fantasy XV's demo, and promise to present a game that further surpasses expectations when the finished product is released.

This game's totally gonna suck now, huh CerebralTiger ? :p

that buggy was an APC that had a use. it was the first vehicle that can pass through water, opening up places that were locked in the beginning. there were no drivable cars in it and not even in FFVIII. its not a bad thing really, i actually like that we have a proper means to transverse those massive fields. Xenoblade's only boring part was running through its HUGE HUGE fields :D

dude that gif hints at nothing tbh. i can paste screens of FFX that can be more persuasive :p plus considering those fences and the fact that u cant jump in FF games, i can bet the game was linear like FFXIII at that point. and that car segment back then WAS all CGI. the only JPRG that ever went full insane with the concept of "massive open worlds" and delivered was(and still is) Xenoblade Chronicles. i wont be surprised if the success of Xenoblade(and failure of FFXIII) forced SE to go back and design FFXV with open world gameplay. oh and lets not forget that the new Xenoblade X is building onto this concept with even more bigger worlds that now need giant robots to transverse. true its not as technically impressive as FFXV but its not running on a current gen consoles either :)

reminds me of Xenoblade with its HUGE open fields gameplay except the car driving parts of course. FF lost its edge last-gen and now they are trying to revive it by copying elements of top JPRG of last-gen. too slow SE too slow
Agree 100%.

As JE said, Xenoblade was menu driven, but not at all turn based.

This is not even a traditional JRPG anymore, while Xenoblade still is. Lest not forget the graphics, which are insane compared to what we saw in Xenoblade.
So, in addition to mechs, the new Xenoblade having a whole layer of multiplayer and social features on top of its already brilliant gameplay is traditional JRPG material? It's time to give them goggles back to @faraany3k :p

Ummmm Xenoblade was first launched in Japan in the year 2010. That's right, an entire year before you saw the open-world gameplay in FFXV. Also, Xenoblade didn't just pop into existence in the year 2010. We had been seeing gameplay footage since 2009, a time when FFXV existed merely in the form of concept art and CG trailers. Heck, that was the same year Square Enix barely managed to finish work on FFXIII.

The one thing that I have to agree is that this trailer seemed to look like Xenoblade X reveal, in the sense of showing the Animals, Creatures etc.
Well, at least you admitted this much. Good enough for me. :)

This game's totally gonna suck now, huh @CerebralTiger ? :p
Pretty much :p

There is a full gameplay video. Check yourself.

FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII Trailer 2011 - ytPAK.com

FF XV was an ambitious project from the start. XII like open world with airships, cars, chocobos and heck it even had mechs and other forms of transport (2011 trailer show most of them). Why are you assuming they copied Xenoblade, which wasn't a massive success worldwide anyways. As in it didn't sell like hotcakes, but was a critical success, and definitely the best JRPG last generation.

If you had followed the project like me, you wouldn't be surprised to see this new trailer. We already knew most of this stuff was expected, but we just hadn't seen it in action using the latest engine.

Good news: FF XV demo is confirmed for March release.

Final Fantasy XV Demo Confirmed for Release in March - GameSpot

Bad news: It will come with Type-0 HD. Which means it will be a paid demo.

Doesn't make much of a difference to me anyways.

Have you guys notcied how all the combat related gameplay shown either looks really clunky and awkward or is heavily scripted? It's either the dude awkwardly swinging giant sword in the air or them doing tag team wrestling moves.

Still, the idea of going on an epic adventurous road trip is kind nice, hopefully the characters will be bareable.

Can't keep high expectations from it after playing FFXIII. I.m just hoping it has open world exploration like classic FF games.
