MULTI Final fantasy series

sup,

I saw a trailer of the upcoming final fantasy on ign and i realised that i want to experience the game when it releases. so i was wondering if all the games in the series are connected, and do i have to play all the games to get a hang of the story?

anyway a list of finalfantasy games would be handy since i am considering asking the pirates at the bay for emulation advice for the older games and buying the new ones.

Each standard number game is a stand-alone title.

Other than that, the series has sequels (FFX-2, Reverent Wings, Dirge of Cerberus, FFXIII-2, etc), prequels (Crisis Core), spin-offs (Crystal Chronicles, Tactics, Dissidia, etc) and movies (Advent Children, Spirits Within).

But from the main series, you can start from pretty much anywhere. It doesn't matter.

i HIGHLY recommend you play 7,8,9 and 10 ALL THESE FF's were the best <3 7,8 and 9 are on PS1 and 10 is on PS2

No need to worry about continuity.Each major entry has a different story and different set of characters.You don't have to play the previous 12 FFs to play FFXIII but you should play XIII before you play the sequel XIII-2.

Final fantasy tactics , 7 and 10 have had the best story so far. Have played all other ffs with 13 being the most disappointing.

However I would Advise you to play Crisis Core and FF7 since they are effin Awesome!

I think there is no need to play any previous FF game, though if u want to get a flavor of FF series you can try FFX and FF12 they will give you how FF series game pattern is.

On other hand, I would recommend if you have not FF series before go for FF12 first couz its comparatively easier than FFX,

I've already played FF XII and am in the midddle of FF VII rite now.FFVII has an awesome story and the battle music is very nice.The visuals were hard to get used to though. lol

We all have our own individual reasons for picking one FF game over the other, so no point in arguing over it. Not that I dislike FF XIII - I don't. But it's a different story when you're comparing them with other games in the series.

Gizmo, had you played FF VII back when it was actually released, you'd have a much different opinion about the visuals. It's just that most of the background assets are comprised of static images that don't really scale well to resolutions beyond 480i/p (I'm assuming you're playing it on a PC).

FFVI. most people overlook it because its from the 16bit era. get an emulator and play it. u must.

i think that reason was the insane amount of grinding that game DEMANDS....

one thing we all agree on is that FF7,crisis core and FFX are the best...frankly crisis core is the best FF this gen so far.fun part is,its on a handheld
