Another example of meeting the deadlines mess. Sony is trying hard to get a number of games under its belt before the holiday season. Sadly it has only damaged them so far.
Money mongers ... Thats what these giant corps have become.

Yep thats what I am saying, now go ahead and wonder what this game would have been like in 2013? Considering they had a full year and they still need to release some essential contents via a patch .... seems like the devs have had some disastrous developmental phases.

If the game isn't ready yet, don't release a half baked game. Delay it further if it needs time to make it ready for release. Why can't they giant ass corporations understand this, or better yet stop hyping shit titles and save yourselves from the embarrassment.

This seems like another corporate controversy, similar to what happened with Destiny.

I agree with the general sentiment that corporate greed does, indeed, hurt industry. But there's also a possibility Driveclub just wasn't destined to be a great game, even if it was to be delayed for a decade or two.

Turn 10 has released three highly acclaimed racing titles in three years. In the end, it is Evolution Studios' fault for messing up their development schedules. It's not as if they set the gaming world on fire with their previous racing titles.

It would've been another matter had this been a studio like Naughty Dog..........

Horizon 2 was not made be turn 10, XB1 version was done by PlayGround* games and 360 was done by Sumo Digital.

However your point is valid. MS has taken the racing game console crown from Sony and the Gran Turismo crowd by releasing games efficiently and improving quality with each iteration. Now with Horizon they are in a great place where they can alternate between their serious-simulation racer and a more friendly burnout style arcade-friendly franchise in Horizon.

* Playground games consists of former Bizzarre creations employees, the guys who made Project Gotham. These guys are not to be trifled with even though they're new, they know their racing shit.

Agreed. Every other game is being hyped so much that people preorder it even before the review embargo lifts. If you could see it .. Its evident that the corporate side gives them a particular deadline and asure them of creating so much hype that they would break-even with just pre-orders.

And that's what the devs do, polish up whatever is ready by the deadline and the corporate side hype it up ... To attract the crowd.. And they eventually sell enough to make up for expenses within the release window.

If you have been following the corporate debacle that happened with Destiny... You'd see a live example of what I am saying. Just a bit from all that have been revealed on the web.. The main story lead director left bungie and they compromised the whole story as they didn't have time or resources to fix it up... Heres a little example; Each race (there are three races in the game) was supposed to have a different story arc. The opening cinematic which the game currently has in place was supposed to be 'EXO Race' specific but whatever race you choose you will see that same cinematic. No wonder none of the cinematics makw any sense.

Lies and deciet have become a trend now, few dev houses did this in previous gen now everyone seems to be following the trend. Glorified trailers and media hype fueled articles. It doesn't matter to them if the end product falls short of expectations - like they don't know it already - they get their money back and make a profit... Thats what they care about.

Only a few devs left who honor true experince for gaming nowadays. An uprising is needed from the gamers to boycott this hype and to not give into games just by the hype it surrounds.

Killzone and infamous are the only ones i can recall (its THAT bad I can't recall anything else).
infamous was decent, killzone has received mixed reviews. Last of Us don't count since that's barely a remake (Ninja Gaiden was a full on remake on a new engine).

Well said buddy. The hype of Destiny was completely deceitful and they made an ass out of everyone. I think after this debacle, gamers everywhere now have their guards up against over hype. Heck, even I fell for the Destiny hype but never will this happen again. I waited out for the reviews for Driveclub before I spent my money again, thank God I held out. Penny saved is a penny earned.

The PS3 launched on Nov 11, 2006 while UC1 was released on Nov 19, 2007, so it barely escaped year 1 by a week.

In that sense, Bloodborne is less than 2 months short, so it's not really a big difference imo.

Tempted to get the retail version. Couldn't care much for the reviews.

Only issue is, I need the PS+ demo first. I'd rather check it out myself, and obviously want to see what's the big deal with its graphics.

srsly man i get that there aren't many games to play on PS4 but ur willing to spend 60$ on a game that has effectly pushed the racing genre back 15 years. the irony is that most people WILL buy driveclub and its monthly sales might match horizon 2. i mean just look at PG, premium sellers are posting pics of their stocks of DC while nobody has even mentioned horizon 2 availability. sad period this industry is going through

Lol. It is not about lack of games on PS4 . But to be honest, it is more of a lack of better "driving" game on the PS4. I am not a racing fan and more of a casual player of such games, but I liked what I saw (mostly the graphics). Sadly PS+ version had to be delayed and still no news about its release date. I am glad I never bought it Day 1 since the servers are getting hampered and people can't connect to them.

Man if you guys think the reviews are bad .. listen to the latest bombcast (around 30 minute mark). Jeff Gerstmann RIPS the game apart. He says .. some paraphrasing.. the following:

- The game plays like a 15 year old simulation game.
- The game doesn't have a car-store etc, you can only 'unlock' cars the game wants you to, even then the library is very small.
- There is only ONE option for driving customization, auto or manual, nothing else.
- The game PENALIZES you by limiting speed for a few seconds if you go off-road (WTF ?)
- Jeff calls it "profoundly disappointing".
- He says that the driving in this driving game is terrible, a very troubling thing for a racer.
- Regarding visuals he says the game looks ok, doesn't have the impact of the original release and has bad road textures here and
- The AI is 'magnetized' to the road, like PS1 games, rubberbanding to the extreme.


and finally .. the part that made me laugh aloud.

Weather effects like rain that were featured in most pre-release material, is not shipping with the retail disc, it will be PATCHED IN a little later ..

Well the game only limits speed if u drive aggressively and hit other racers. Going off track/road nets u a reset after 3 sec warning.
Plus as per GT review, there are some srsly odd and hilarious invisible walls, limited damage details which explains the good looks. But the biggest surprise is that atm the game has no Japanese, American or Korean cars! Yep its a racing game abt real cars and has no offerings from the likes of Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Dodge or Chevrolet :lol:
I m not doing this on purpose but after playing enough of horizon 2, any racing game with tracks that impose stupid restrictions and invisible walls has no place in my books. Yep I m acting like a spoiled brat I know

Glad I'm not into racing games, otherwise this would've been a major disappointment. Hope to boot up Shadow of Mordor on my ps4 for the first time tomorrow. At least there's something worth playing on the console for now.
