Dude, I said PREMISE...GOW, aside of borrowing just gods, and alpha gods from the myth, is actually loosely based on the myth itself. In this regard, Asura's PREMISE is a direct inference to GOW's. Now you get it?
Errrrrr, no. The only thing about the plot that's been mentioned is that it takes Eastern Mythology and melds it with sone sci-fi elements. Myths are generally open-source, so to speak, since they're so universal. Enslaved was based on Journey To The West, does that make it a Dragon Ball clone!?

I'm just saying wait for some gameplay footage. I mean, you could be right, but then again, you're just crapping the game for nothing.

What you call RPG, is a fantasy genre. A lot of things depend to call a game a role playing game. It is a bit complicated to explain. Maybe you should hit google.
I'm not even going to dignify that with a reply.

But since you're so keen on Google, ever Googled the scores for RE 3 and 4?

Resident Evil 3; 88.48
Resident Evil 4; 95.77

Honestly though, you should give 2D fighting games a chance. I had written them off myself till I played some guys here on PG, now I'm a huge fan.

This is where I come in to tell you how RE4 is pretty much the pioneer of what you're calling "generic shooter" here, being the first super successful over-the-shoulder-aiming type of game that many future hits like Gears take inspiration from, and currently holds a metacritic of 96 on not one but two platforms, earned dozens of Game of the Year awards etc etc.

But clearly a true gamer like yourself who considers fatal frame, silent hill and such "RPG".. (lol) knows better, if playing a role is your definition of an RPG that makes every game where you play a defined role, even call of duty 4, an RPG..
Oh wow, a bloody surprise that the game floored the charts, and awards in NA and Eurpoe's shooter market. My heart just stopped!

RPG...Excuse me while I laugh my ass off at your typical ignorance about ENGRISH! Role play is EVEN done in writing. But obviously, what would I know about it?

I think it's fairly obvious that the definition of the term role play is different across the mediums, or is taken differently by the general masses, but since we see you post less about actual games and more about whining over irrelevant things, I guess it's not hard to fathom you're not too familiar with what "gamers" consider "role playing games" to be.

It also won Famitsu's game of the year for your kind information :) you know .. cause it was a great game and all.

@ Mofo You know, I give up. Clearly, the word 'premise' and my post is not sinking in.

As if I care about reviews. Only you people would justify your point by bringing reviews in, when they are opinions of a handful number of people. And the fact that Na and Europe are saturated with shooter tards, this score his hardly the second greatest miracle since sliced bread.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

*reads that post again*

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

You make it sound like a bad thing that RE4 was such a good game! How does that work again?

And no, no one's buying that load of crap about RPGs. Maybe you should stop confusing "roleplaying GAMES" and "roleplaying".

But seriously, you still haven't explained how you think Silent Hill is a roleplaying game. I'd like to hear that. I seriously do.

Or maybe, MAYBE, you're just trying to start an argument for argument's sake and don't have any valid points.

You can't argue about the premise because even you don't know about the premise.

And dude, every gamer I've ever known loves the crap out of RE4. And yes, reviews do stand for something. If a large percentage of gaming journalists think a game is the best ever, I'd tend to think they were right.

And you obviously are ignoring a basic fact and pointlessly whining as usual, that every writing goes through the sames writing rules that apply in a short story, novella, or even a novel. And considering the fact that you are completely ignoring the fact that games stories are written by abiding to the SAME rules, and the SAME genres. And I wonder why SH3 was not put in the best Survival horror awards...Oh wait; I have never seen the category.

It also won Famitsu's game of the year for your kind information :) you know .. cause it was a great game and all.
I should totally listen to a random dude on the internet, when I speak out about my likes and dislikes.

RE4 in a nut-shell

- Same controlls
- Added tackles
- Half baked laser sight, which defies the natural working of the laser
- 900+ enemies in total, that I can beat with my toes, snoring in my sleep in pro mode...there goes the challange factor.
- THE worst dialogues I had - at that time - seen in any game. Period.
- You cannot move while you shoot.
- Unneeded second appearences.
- Easy enemies.
- Annoying over-the-shoulder view, which actually greatly restricts your field of vision when you truly aim. What a huge PLUS!
- Repetitive as hell.
- The only enemies you ever face are basically the same, with different clothing etc. Aside of the dogs, and bugs, which appear sparingly.
- Lame, unbalanced bosses, which hardly require any effort at all.
- You basically do not even need to conserve anything, as enemies will crap out bullets for you.
- Enough weaponery to level a whole freaking city. Another down point for the non-existant challange factor.
- Genre shift. Another down point.
- The most stupid story in the history of RE games; only topped by the abysmal RE5.
- The only saving grace of this game is modes, costumes, and two Ada's scanerio you unlock. And a mercenery mode, if you are interested.

...Wow, like, what a DIFFERENT, totally unique game.

@ chandoo You know Chandoo, I have read your awe-amazing reviews. Your broken english is hardly worthy of backing up this ludicurous show of troll-fest over an opinionated view. Maybe you should invest this energy in ACTUALLY researching about creative writing, and how it applies to every fucking field of writing to EVER grace this earth. And maybe in the process of doing so, you might also improve your own.

You just made me laugh REALLY hard.

@ Please, I don't owe you any explanations. As this point was actually about a personal prefernce. And no, only two year old kids who don't have their own money to spend, and cry about buying games in front of mommy and daddy look at reviews.

No,no, don't spin this around bro! You're obviously trying to change the meaning of "roleplaying games" into something else completely. You're also ignoring the fact that we aren't talking about Creative Writing 101 here; we were talking about how you think one game totally rips the other off without seeing any evidence to support your claim.

Your "rules for writing stories for games" bit is seriously invalid.

I'll ask you again, how are survival horror games actually RPGs?

And once again, use Google! Jeez man, for someone who keeps on harking about how cool it is you seem to be totally oblivious to it's benefits! Here's the first entry I found when I googled "best survival horror games";

http://www.ugo.com/games/survival-horror-games-top-11

SH3 is on 6, guess which game is in number 2? I'll give you a hint; it's NOT an RPG :p

Look up any decent gaming website that has games separated by genres, look up the role playing genre, and look up if silent hill or fatal frame appears in any website under that category .... then continue your "OH HAI I HAZ CLEARLY MORE COMPREHENSION OR WRITING SKILLZ LOL" rant.

I should totally listen to a random dude on the internet, when I speak out about my likes and dislikes.
wait .. so you're simultaneously denying everyone else's opinion as just that, their opinion, and trying to force your own opinion as fact ..

that's just grand lol.

And no, only two year old kids who don't have their own money to spend, and cry about buying games in front of mommy and daddy look at reviews.
what is this i don't even .. where does logic like this come from ...good god every sshah post gives new meaning to the phrase "the fuck did i just read" lol

Heather, a seemingly normal teenage girl must explore the hellish place of Silent Hill in order to understand her forgotten past and escape with her life, if not her sanity.

Your "rules for writing stories for games" bit is seriously invalid.
@ Is what? Are you for real? No really, are you actually serious? The genre that I am talking about is a sub-genre, and so is survival Horror. See above? Now try and defend your claim. The word genre is not as simple as you think it is. Each genre is divided into plenty of sub genres. And I am not a tutor. Go and reserach, and then come and argue with me, because you and specially the amazing writer of PG, know jack about creative writing, because the genre of any game, movie, short story, novella, novel, poem is BASED ON THE WRITTEN MATERIAL. It is not the other way around.

I said Premise. Considering you don't even know what premise means, I am sorry, it is not my fault.

P.s: Oh and by the way, even short-stories, porms, drama, novella, and novels, and any other creative piece of writing are genres themselves. Oh god, it's like beating my head against a brick wall. You people know nothing about this of course. I am out of here. What a waste of my time. A typical out-burst by chandoo, who on-purpose makes trolling threads, why did I even think for a minute that rationality with get through to him? buahahaha

Victory is ours!

But seriously, how is Silent Hill and RPG?

See above? Now try and defend your claim.
Uhhhhh, it doesn't say it's an RPG, perhaps?

I said Premise. Considering you don't even know what premise means, I am sorry, it is not my fault.
No, I do know what it means. I just wanted to know how you think the premise is the same. They both use mythology as their basic premise, but they aren't even the same mythology.

Storming out of an invalid argument and acting all pissed off doesn't actually make you right, you do realize that, right?

Yes, but isn't Google essentially an RPG?

I'm the final boss fight.
This gen the final boss fights have all been disappointing.
LMAO.

I kinda liked the Skorge boss fight in Gears 2, though not tech. speaking a final boss fight. The huge boss fight in the end was cool but it only involved us tagging it for the Hammer of Dawn.
