I have a question. There are two campuses of IBA, city and main. In which campus is computer science offered?
Sorry for the late reply. As phantom said, it's in the main campus with few of the courses being offered at city. However, IBA has been wanting to shift entire CS to city since a year now but every semester the students write a petition against the decision and it works. However, this time around more courses were transferred to city.
In my opinion it's better to be shifted to city, it's just better for CS. People will tell you main is where the life is at but honestly, if you're from A level environment then you won't find anything new here and if anything you'll find the A level environment better. Uni is all about learning your field , everything else shouldn't be a priority anymore.

phantomomaga One small thing. The 3.5 GPA requirement at Habib is only for their 100% scholarship. I know people on as much as 93% and 89% scholarships who only have to maintain a 2.75 GPA. If someone gets a scholarship at Habib how would you say it compares to IBA?

This is all I could find on their website . In any case, let's assume mil bhi jaye aur maintain bhi hojaye. How would you rate Habib then?

So you are saying that there is a chance that the whole CS department will be transferred to the city campus in the not-so-distant future?

considering the scholarship is maintainable my discomforts with the university are as follows
1) if you are aiming electrical engineering the uni is not registered with Pakistan Engineering Council (http://www.pec.org.pk/univ.aspx)
2) the general atmosphere is not towards studies (mostly kids from alevels party schools who couldn't go abroad for one reason or the other else extremely genius ones targeting their 90% plus scholarships and they in live their own world)
3) the university expect you to be exceptionally awesome at studies (at a nerd level) and be a social butterfly at the same time (this doesn't translates to awesome performance)
4) Even with scholarship its costly .6 to .7 million base semester fee isnt something light
5) this is still a pakistani university electrical engineer trainees are paid Rs 18000 to Rs 25000 here in pakistan and your employer wont give a fish about how much did you pay for your degree. so in the end its just bad maths
6) the uni's impractical dreams were proved when 1st batch 1st semester was so bad the university invalidated the results and passed the whole batch (wow nice shit man) and then the started thinking in line with ground realities introducing new polices so why experiment with your carrier in the hands of those who are not even clear on their own perspective.
7) the social science and humanitarian courses are plain & dry; and my friends are always complaining about them these only substitute the courses like pakstudies and islamiat that other universities. For other more core courses my friends at habib are studding almost the same things as my friends @ fast, giki, iba, nust, sufa, and even ned (though teachers in ned tend to not teach a few things that are eve included in their course outline)

so considering these factors i would advice against habib

cool wasay do apply to not only iba but all other universities like fast, bahria, dha sufa and etc so that you always have a backup
even if you are not in to fast at all do apply there because god forbid if you have some kind of problem with your planned preference you have a backup option (if not you will have something to shut up pesty relatives who have no idea about shit and like to degrade or give useless advises)

Your reasons is good. However, I am not sure about the first one. Habib university says that their electrical engineering program is affiliated with PEC, it is even mentioned in their university booklets.

I think it'll take another 2 semesters for it to be transferred but yes, that is their vision atm. However, a new dean is about to come so nothing is 100% sure. There are many uni core courses (speech comm, ENG grammar and comp., intro to stats etc.) and general electives which are taken by people from other degree programs and will be offered in the main campus. So if you want to spend time at main you will have that option for one or two semesters.

i dont know about their booklets (i think they are mentioning about HEC) but the PEC site doesn't acknowledges this claim (at least it didnt till 21st march) according to this link (google cache here)

thats good!
FYI: IBA conducts its entry test in mid of june (for BBA)(if you get into BBA you can easily transfer in to CS) and entry test for CS & other disciples in begining off JULY
DHA suffa entry tests start in the 2nd week of june and they conduct about 10ish test with the last one in augest
KU conducts its test after ned's but their timetable is never consent better inquire it with them
Bahria conducts its test near NUST dates last time it was in the last week of june
NED conducts its test in aug-sep (i dont remember clearly)
FAST ones are conducted in July
so if you are interested you can apply to all of them
and i will encourage you for Bahria or NED over KU reason potential pears

My O'level result was 2A,5B,1D and my As'level result was 3a,1b. The entry test went good and the interview was fine too. I was expecting atleast 70% scholarship.

main campus with a few courses in the city campus (oh and the city campus has a i-mac lab to talk about facilities) (and about teachers generally they are good but you will find occasional di**heads every where)

fast is out of the question for him so after iba his next choice should be bahria or suffa
and a correction bahria offers BSE (bachelor is Software Engineering)
No, Bahria does offer BS CS. My brother is currently enrolled in it( 4th semester).

We're kind of in the same boat(Our names are similar too :p). I'm an Alevel student and currently looking for a good University for CS. I applied at Habib too, got 50% off(Scholarship+Financial Aid-After removing Zakat thingy). I surely nailed the test and they did tell me that when they were offering the scholarship but still the fees isn't what I was expecting so I've dropped it as an option!

Planning to apply at IBA and FAST in the coming future but I'm pretty tensed about my A levels right now. I'm sure I'll pass the aptitude test but not so sure about surviving thru A levels. I have 2C's and 1A. Just need to mantain it to get into IBA but if I lose a grade I'm dead. FAST will be the only option left and I'm not so sure if it'll have Inter ke weird students or just the good ones, who know what they're talking about. Like do they take any students because of political references or other ways? Like I don't wanna be studying with students who aren't somewhat equally eligible. I'd rather waste another year on A levels.

So hit me up here on PG. We might even know each other or must have seen you at Habib!

Edit: And btw I reckon your O levels grade and Entry test messed up your admission. I was pretty shy in the interview but did argue about the topic they gave me(They seemed bored in the beginning but both of em started talking soon).

Yup, sure looks like we are in the same boat. I had so much hope for studying at Habib but then shit happened. Now I am either going to apply at IBA or take a gap year. BTW from which school are you? I am from The City School, Gulshan A level.
