MULTI Best Openings in Video Games of 2011

The first ever FPS I ever played was back in 1998. Who would have thought that the "tram ride" would lead to one of the best experiences in video gaming. That little gem was called Half-Life, which is well known for its strong opening.
Its 2011, the latter end of current generation. Today's video games continue to follow the trend. So far, my favorite openings from 2011 have been:
  • Portal 2
  • Batman: Arkham City
Please share your favorite openings from 2011. Please keep spoilers in tags. Also, note that its about "openings", not the "endings".

Arkham City had a really strong opening I must say.

Portal 2, despite being an epic title had a sort of a weak start. The tutorial was monotonous for people who had already played Portal.

Lots of praise for Arkham City I see. Must play that game now.... For me the best opening is of Crysis 2... Hans Zimmer FTW.... (sm1)

Not really, they made the tutorial fun though =D *press O to say Apple and Chell jumps instead* Wheatly : Do you have brain damaged? LOL

In retrospect Dead Space 2 was pretty good too, a first hand view at necromorph transformation. Portal 2 didnt exactly have the best "opening" but it most definitely had one of the best endings.

Totally agreed.
It's kinda funny but I don't think any game has got to the "best opening" level yet this year for me. UC3's second chapter could be one, but second chapter ain't an opening :p

Let's see how Arkham City fares.

Do yourself a favor, don't play with the catwoman DLC (atleast for the opening). The Batman side of the opening is far more effective at setting up Arkham City.

    So i just found out that f***ing s***bag Microsoft shut down Arkane Studio (makers of the brilliant Dishonored series) and Tango Gameworks (makers of the iconic The Evil Within series), among some other studios. I just want to say a giant F*** Y**! to Microsoft. THEY'VE F***ED UP BIG TIME this time.

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
