I am using standard chartered bank for online purchasing

They charge rs: 106-107 for a dollar where as open market rate is around rs: 101-103 / $

So they are also charging 3-4% against the amount

Most CCs do charge 3.5%. Askari is IIRC 3% (or 2.5%).
Check Schedule of charges for respective banks; they list how the conversion works.

SCB: is 3.5% + a rupee for every USD spent

MCB Lite is generally open market $ rate

Around 14-15 days. You'll get the package first, then you'll need to go to the bank.

Yeah. But if you want an MCB Lite 2 package, then it's a bit tough.

I applied for MCB Lite on Saturday 27-06-15 got E-mail containing the link for form, filled it and submitted it. Got the text today (monday) prompting me to set my pin which I did. How much more time will it take for the card to arrive and what should I do after that I called the helpline they said u dont have to go to the branch, I am pretty confused .

If you got MCB bank account then upon getting card. Call helpline and get it activated. If you dont have MCB account then card comes with forum you must fill it and then go to MCB branch and get it activated.

For the SCB current account, they have mentioned that you've to have 100k minimum balance, is it that you need to have 100k at the time of account opening and then you can take it out or you've to have atleast 100k in your account at all times?

At last I got my card after 7 working days from TCS. Can anyone from Hyderabad confirm the branch that I should go to activate my Card( I want to save the hassle of going to one branch after another, as I have heard there is lack of knowledge about Lite).

Usually if your balance is below the minimum banks start deducting money/fee from your account. Your amount is not blocked.

Call MCB helpline and ask them which branch has MCB lite service in your area.
