Guys, I'm looking to open a current bank account but I'm not sure which bank to choose.
I've figured that its easy to get an MCB lite so that kind of makes the working online visa debit card not a big priority for me but besides that, it should be a bank with probably the least hidden charges and rules somewhere as well as complications.I went to SCB today to open a bank account and they just asked for too much of student ID proof including an attested stamp paper and everything which I could not provide.Their minimum requirements was also to maintain 1 lakh and their representative did not even care to provide me with any additional details about it.
How's HBL ? I've read that their debit card has a lot of discounts on many local places so I would love any details on that.
Use AL Habib for truly free Banking. The account, cheque book and CUP (China Union Pay) Debit Card which works at any local POS is free for AL Habibs current accounts (They have VISA too, but unless you buy online, its no different than a CUP ... and for online I seriously would ask you to stay away from AL Habib, however he Net Banking at AL Habib is decent, they recently setup a new much better app). Also they have very down to earth services and zero snob mentality, stuff that SCB possess. SCB caters to a niche market, forget about them. They are retarded on their exuberant demands.
For discounts, best alliances (i.e. discounts) in the market are with HBL, UBL, Alfalah, Faysal and Silk (VISA credit cards). Currently Silk is handing out pretty much completely free credit cards with waived annual charges which is pretty neat, I can get you in touch for one of those if you want.
HBL and UBL have charges, but their discounts are amazing (UBL has free entry at Port Grand, for example). Alfalah and Faysal have a very decent Credit Card setup as well.(I've used all four)
Another tip is to get a MasterCard credit card (Faysal Bank offers them). MasterCards discount offerings are crazy at times, 40% off and free tickets etc.
