Dank , Hamilton .
i bought a cell phone google pixel 2 from a friend of mine who works at a software unlocking repairing shop in saddar elect market karachi , so i thought i would buy one from there through a friend at a little cheap price than defence clifton .
here's the dealing , he told me how much is your afford i told him its available for 85000 on online shops , 80000 is what i can afford, he went asking around the market told me its available for 85000 i argued with him a little he said ok we will agree on 82 , told the guy it should be factory sealed no bs , he said yeah .
in between this conversation mr software king himself who is a brother of the person who i was dealing with said dont buy this phone there is no resale value of this phone , after opening the box shopkeepers will pay you 30000 for it , dont buy this phone naga naga i didnt knew something was fishy at that time , so instead he persuaded me to buy a one plus 5t for 70000 i was listening to him it has 8 gb ram i said i know games work flawlessly on it yada yada , problem i told him its 6 inches and i want a 5 inch cell phone even though my hands are big and i was interested in google pixel 2 during this conversation out of know where some one brings a one plus 5t to the shop i told him immediately what is this , sorry but i wont buy this phone , all of a sudden he said this is a new sealed box opened , this person didnt even open the box infront of me and thought i would buy this phone on his recommendation , i told him no cant buy it sorry , now his brother is telling the scamming part you have to pay 5000 rupees because it was a brand new sealed box open , told the guy i didnt even said i am interested to buy one your brother said atleast have a look at it i never said i would buy one tells me to atleast pay 2000 for it we would both share the loss and so on .

now the pixel 2 part .

so we agreed on 82000 for a factory sealed set brings its to me after 4 hours of wait i asked them from where are you getting the phone doesnt mention it , i trust these guys and opened the sealed box infront of em never checked the imei on the box and cellphone , used wifi a bit , they wrote the receipt they congratulate me and ask for 1000 rupees and some sweets too .

i came home saw the imei on the phone and box last 4 numbers different from the box and the phone itself checked online and consumers are saying to each other that this is a refurbished phone .

so i returned back the cellphone to them the next day they said we will bring you a new phone , in between this conversation one of the guy says , get the box of the imei of the phone , thats the moment i got to know something was wrong he was continuously saying to his brother get the box of the phone's imei which matches the imei on the phone , so i wait another 4-5 hrs for another phone , during that i asked his brother that whats goin on bhai he said miracle words evidence that i needed ( this cellphone was mistakenly put in a different box ) so this means cellphones box was already opened , asked him further where is your person getting these cellphones from he said dubai some hk enterprise was lying straight to my face , i said what , i want a cellpohne which is directly from google factory sealed i dont want any third party in between scamming bs .

told him i wont take any phones from you know either sealed or whatever demanded my money back from him and even he himself said do you want your money back i said yes , then still he was trying to defraud me with just take the phone because that 1 party person whatever is saying

will deduct 20000 from 82000 and give me back 62000 , selling me a phone which is already opened such scam , today i am gonna go with someone and talk to these guys again for a full refund sold me a refurb phone with unmatching imei's .

should i get my full money back , what if they are not co operating , can someone help out in this matter .

I don't have much suggestions for you, sorry, except putting pressure on the shopkeeper and your friend for a complete refund. I Just want to add my experience which was similar to yours.

Most of the shopkeepers are fking scammers. So back in 2011 i wanted to buy an iphone 4S. There is one wholesale shop in khi saddar market. I knew those guys for 2-3 years. He brought a bag full of iphones and told me this stock is from Dubai and factory sealed. The seal already looked suspecious to me. I went ahead and opened the box and examined the phone carefully. Ports, headphone jack and speaker grill were filled with dust. I asked him how come ? He immediately opened another box seal and handed me the phone, like opening a box seal is no problem. The second phone was worse then the first. I told him these companies take so many precautionary measures and spend money to create a dustless environment inside their factories. I returned the phone and left. Same things happened at different shops with other company phones too including Telemart.

Bought an iphone 7 plus from Telemart as a gift for someone in family on urgent basis. Telemart had the required color. They assured Box was factory sealed. I sent the phone and Fast forward 3 months the motherboard of iphone 7 plus died. Unfortunately there was no warranty on it. Later when i saw the charger and headphones that came with it, were a f*king cheap chinese knock offs.

Most of them sell refurbed or opened boxes repacked. I highly doubt refurbished ones come directly from factories. Someone in local market repairs and pack them.

It's best to buy from an authorized reseller even if you have to pay extra. Or ask someone to bring it for you from abroad espcially from a company's online store or a physical store.

I've only bought iphones or samsungs. For iphone i go to MediaCenter (authorized reseller). Their prices are about 10k more than saddar. You get one year local warranty and a piece of mind and a true experience to open a new sealed product. For samsung phones go to their website and look for authorized resellers. I don't know about other companies.

So I'll never buy a phone from a random shop or even online paki stores like daraz, shophive, telemart, etc.

yup , you know whats the worst part google and iphone are not officially here , the phone that i bought from told me these phones come from dubai in batches a trader or a company will buy them and repack them unfortunately in my case i got a refurb one with a different imei on box and different on the phone , secondly he said you wont find a factory sealed google pixel 2 all over pakistan because they all come from dubai because of its duty free and they get opened at the customs and theirs no warranty , otherwise bringing phones from other countries will add tax to the phones and will cost more .

i asked cplc about the situation and they told me whatever they are doing is legal , the guy at cplc immediately recognized it as a refurb when i told him about the imei , lmao .

well they deducted 5 thousand i dont have any back up so i agreed upon it .

resolved .

Yeah, Sadder mobile market is full of that.
Wanted to buy a tab so I went around and they told me the same thing.

No one was willing to cut off their massive profit at negotiation and since I wanted one badly I agreed upon the shit they were asking. 33k (Instead of 29K)
Thankfully after careful inspections the product was original enough for me to buy.

The whole thing about this issue is that cant be illegal, cant go against it.
You bought the thing voluntarily and theres no written agreement the thing is brand new.

You cant do anything against them in this case.
Oh apart from ahem-killing them-ahem.

I can totally relate to being helpless and accepting the fate that comes after it.
Went there myself a few times but hey... at best you can learn from the experiences.

To all the future buyers of phones that arent officially in Pakistan.
1. always check items thoroughly at the shop before paying up the cash.
2. Any minor scratches, uneven surface, dis-coloration of the screen.
3. Check it for 15-30 mintues even if they allow you, look for heatup issues etc.

If anything occurs during it.
You know what to do, leave that dude and dont feel bad because they were never officially sealed to begin with.

And always know that phones that arent coming with warranty seals, will come with alot of risks.

PS. I changed the title of the thread, its always good to think of a good title that attracts attention. :)

That's why I never bought any phone from here. I always buy electronic stuff from Saudi Arabia since 2002 except for PS4 pro that i bought recently but still not from the market.

Never buy these phones from local market. Stuff like HTCs and Pixels are hard to find ACTUALLY SEALED.
The only way to get a Pixel 2 is to ask a relative to bring from US or UK, or even Dubai.

Pixel 2s have been having issues so it's possible the phone was an RMA unit shipped in the box of the original phone. Either way, huge loss. Lesson learned.

Don't ever buy from local market again unless it's a Samsung or something sold officially with a warranty that can be claimed here.

Been scammed tons of times with buying & selling of phones from local market (hall rd & hafeez center), olx, and even here on PG. You learn from your mistakes. I don't know what it is about cellphones, but it seems like in Pakistan this profession relies on your ability to lie & cheat. The better scammer you are, the more you make, and because of that, I've really started to hate this profession and everyone in it. I haven't seen much of this in other electronic markets like computers. Seems to be localized in the mobile sector.
We Pakistanis are a bunch of hypocrites, we criticize every politician & blame them for everything, but fail to look at ourselves. WE are the ones that have fucked Pakistan in every possible way, not the ones in charge.

Interestingly the Friend you mention in your talk, Is he really Friend who put you into a game which cost you 20k? these people are no friends of anyone! if he was your friend, he would have told you these faking fones are used refurbs from top to bottom.

A little while ago I was here asking for lg20 info. I decided to buy a normal tab. I went to the cell buzz and bought lenovo tab 3 8 plus! a nice value for money thy were offering. spend just 5 mints in the shop, came back home. connect the wifi and tab reboots. random reboots like LG. i was shocked wtf i just bought! day after I went to the shop told the guy this tab have "random reboot issue"! and guess what!

he said! what is that? and i was looking at him which poker face! that he spend millions in the used mobile phone business and he dont know what is random reboot. I know thy are cheating.

Lucky that random reboot was a software issue! which I manage to fixed. but saddar market! trust no1. and spending 80k. I will never buy a phone of 80k from saddar!
