So whats the average salary for graduates in Pakistan?

Please tell me about different industries but similar roles like receptionists, accountants, project managers etc

I will really appreciate all the input. If you have considerably accurate figures from your own experience or someone you know, that would be really helpful.

I have heard of figures between 30k and 90k for different companies and different positions but all at graduate levels but need some more accurate data.

I am looking at this both as a graduate looking for a job and also as an employer looking to hire talented graduates.

Thank you.

it also depends on experience , graduate may earn 30k in starting but 90 k is not possible unless one got decent experience
I am talking about IT field

for example ,
I havent yet completed my graduate but doing a job , as I dont have previous experince I started from 10k , now getting 12k ,and I am the coordinator of IT department/staff but the thing is I can have extras/bonuses , like medicals or if something emergency happens so they pay us or whatever needs we cant afford at once ,

and if you wanna hire someone , you must hire a right person , who can do more work in less time but quality work , that will be better. because in my office most of the lads are inexperienced but they got job coz of 'safarish' and its sometimes very hard for me to communicate with them to perform tasks as they cant properly use computer devices and office equipment , which disturbs the workflow.

and for pay scale name the position , I will tell you in detail :)

Hmm, so if I am looking to hire someone, I can get good talented people at 25k a month? Even if I want graduates from NUST?

For the roles, I am talking about IT guys, like people who can be IT support and manage the company's website, make forms and documents etc.
Then people who are excellent at social media marketing, I mean everyone can pay for adds on facebook but knowing how to maximize the output is what he employer pays for.
People who are interested in general product marketing and brand publicity.
Accountants to form the accounts department,

Also, business analysts, people interested in entrepreneurship in a way that they can be critical about evaluating business ideas.

IT is a different ballgame though (university matters but not as much as in other disciplines), an interview will give you a good feel about the candidates skills because they are the most important aspect when hiring a CS/IT/SE grad. than say his/her GPA.

It'll be hard getting a NUST/FAST grad @ 25k, my friend who graduated (FAST) last year with 2.9CGPA got a job well above 25k.

I think average should be around 30k. This figure is only for 'average'.
I don't belong to the IT field, but in my field of engineering, fresh graduates take from 20K all the way to 100 K +. It depends entirely on the company. I know a guy who started with 73k, another who started with 84k... it all depends on the company.

As an accountant/auditor we have to complete our article ship period from an audit firm during which we get paid from 10-25k gradually based on our experience and the number of papers clears. Once qualified it ranges from 30-50 for an ACCA and ACMA usually maybe more and for an CA it goes over 70+

Forget 30k to 90k salary package.. lets look at the facts!

We are living in the worst economy.. way to less jobs and endless supply of candidates looking for vacancies then there are "safaarshias". It's really hard to earn money but what's harder than that is to get the job! I know people with decent Bachelor/Master Degrees still looking for jobs! Here majority of people are working in different fields which aren't even suppose to be their line of work for example IT guy working in a Call Centre, Law guy working in Accounts, Commerce guy working as receptionist I mean there are countless examples around us.

If you can get 30k as a starter package I would say your a lucky person considering out of thousands of people who are earning much less than that. Also in Pakistan mostly organizations are outsourcing employees so technically your job isn't safe either neither one should expect better salary package nor the facilities one can get as a permanent employee. Another trend in our country from past several years is the so called performance based incentive which includes some kind of targets that needs to be filled if you work in a Bank or a Marketing/Advertisment etc company or even a call centre.

I would just say we are living in the worst times! I'm not talking about the people who running there own business or anything nor am I pointing out anyone but just telling the truth considering a vast majority of people suffering through such issues whether they are working or not.

It primarily depends upon two things, as far as I have personally experienced.

1. Qualification obviously
2. University you have graduated from.

For instance, MBA graduates from LUMS normally earn a salary between 60-75k.

And for LSE MBA graduates, the range is between 30-50k.

Another important factor I believe is the organization which is hiring. For example, banks normally tend to have starting packages at the lower side. Whereas, multinationals, are in a position to offer better packages.

Lastly, it also depends on the opportunities available in your field in the region you are in. For instance, as per my experience, hardcore finance oriented jobs are more available and better paying in Karachi vis-a-viz Lahore.

For a first job, try to negotiate a good salary cause if you start low, you'll remain on the lower end for quite a bit.
