Hi and Welcome to the Exclusive 3DTV / 3D MONITOR OWNERS CLUB

The 3DTV and 3DMonitor owners are growing on daily basis as 3D continues to gets more affordable. There are several members on PG who are already enjoying the immersive 3D experience. This thread is generally focused to those members who own an Active Shutter or Passive Polarized Stereoscopic 3D display.

If you don't own a 3D capable display, I highly recommend you to consider it as your next upgrade. @The Avenger has a very detailed guide here, and the whole thread is flooding with 3D goodness. It's a onestop place for anyone looking into 3D.
NOTE: You must own atleast 1 3D capable display before posting here.

Example of topics that can be discussed here:

  • 3D gaming via nVidia/ATI cards
  • 3D gaming on consoles
  • 3D softwares and applications
  • 3D movies/videos
  • Share your 3D experience and setup
  • Questions or concerns related to your 3D display
  • 3D Media in general (where to acquire etc.)

So let me start off here:

I have a pretty old computer but I tried out the new Tomb Raider 2013 on my PC and the 3D on it is mind blowing!!! I am trying to upgrade in a month's time... can't wait! What softwares do you guys use to view 3D on your PC? I am using nVidia 3DTV Play but also tried TriDef 3D. Cool thing about TriDef is that it can give 1080P on 3DTV whereas nVidia claims that it can't due to HDMI restrictions :S

BTW - 3D gaming on xbox sucks :( I played Crysis 3 but I think that game can do better on the PC. Haven't tried it on my system cuz I doubt it'll playable!

I have a question to the Samsung 3DTV owners though... how on earth are you storing your 3D glasses? I am currently putting them in a type of jewelry box that I took from sis lol! But I need to know how are people taking care of their glasses?

No one?

ok - so here is a good trick that can work for any smart TV.

To have your TV run Netflix, Hulu, or even watch free internet channels such as 4 on Demand (UK), BBC iPlayer (UK) etc.

Search Tunlr on google and go to their website. Put in the DNS they provide as your own DNS on your TV. You should be able to watch different region channels. That website has a list of apps that work using Tunlr DNS.

Moreover a certain video sharing website that has been blocked by gov. also works ;)

Enjoy!

For TV, I have a 70" Sony R55 series.

For a monitor, have one coming in, would update then.
Woah! That's a sweet ass TV you got there buddy!

So have you connected your PC to it and tried out any 3D games yet?

Edit:

I also plan to make a list of must have 3D media (games / videos / movies)

Let me know if you have any suggestions on that front!

Well that's actually connected to a home theater system, so 3D movies would be correct. I don't have a PC in Pakistan, so I couldn't do that one.
Makes a list of decent Blu Rays to watch, put it on a separate external HDD and enjoy it that way. Have done the same.

Well I have my PC connected to it - so I watch movies through that. Soon I'll upgrade my (HT)PC so 3D PC gaming is not a slide show as it currently is lol (exagerating here but you get the point)!

I have a Samsung 3DTV, can I connect my laptop via HDMI to watch 3D Youtube movies?

Sent from my codec using Nanomachines
Yes you can. If your laptop has an nVidia 3D compatible GPU you can download the nVidia 3DTV Play software that can turn your compatible softwares and games into 3D. You can browse the net and 3D youtube videos will display in 3D.

You can also skip out all the software mumbo jumbo and watch youtube in 3D but there may be some manual labour involved. Basically after you run your 3D youtube video you will see split images running. Make the video full screen and hit the 3D button on your TV. it will convert the display into the 3D and your video will convert into 3D. Note that 2D items on screen will be blurry so you will have to play with 3D button everytime you need to watch a 2D item.

But why go through all this trouble? What TV model do you have? If it's Smart capable, I would recommend using the DNS trick (my second post on this thread) and watch youtube directly on your TV. For me it's the most convinient way since I dont have to play with proxies on my PC etc. and 3D videos are converted to 3D automatically.

Well, I don't have an nVidia 3D GPU. The TV is EH6030, it's not smart capable but it has internet option. I'll check out if I can modify DNS settings on it.

If its not smart capable then there is no need to modify the DNS. The TV probably uses internet for updates.

Watch youtube on your laptop using the second method I mentioned.

Spoiler: show

Also - mention your screen size so I can put your name on the list :)

I have Hp ENVY 17 3d laptop. I watch movies on it...........From my experience, I can say that this option is good but you will be disappointed by the size of the screen..Although in laptops,17.3' is considered massive.........
watched many movies on it and 3d experience is awesome........Avatar, Abraham lincoln the vampire hunter are the best I can say that have amazing 3d effects..........

Dont usually play games on 3d but I did tried it once on I dont remember which game(maybe civ 5) but playing in 3d does effects the frame rate alot.......I am totally satisfied with it...... :)

Dude - I haven't had time to watch any good movie in 3D. I only saw Finding Nemo and Despicable Me (part 1). I was happy with Despicable me but the real pop out 3D can be seen in youtube videos :D

And believe me... you will never be satisfied with the Screen Size lol! I have a 46" and I feel it's small. My bro owns a 55" LG LM9600 in Canada and he wants a bigger size. Let's see if @Ali Man thinks his 70" is big enough :p

I own a Sony 40" EX720, it's pretty nice.
Cool - I like the design of the TV :)

I have samsung series 6 3D tv UA40EH6030
Good to have another Samsung boy here!

So help me out - how on earth are you storing the pain in the ass 3D glasses that don't even fold!?!
@mohammadyahya - you can help too buddy

This is what I've done:

I've borrowed my sister's Paper Mache Jewelry box and put them in here. The box is covered with velvet so it'll keep them safe. I need to know what you boys are doing about your glasses :)
