No way to know why there's a spike in between the hops - but it happens sometimes. RIght now, I''m getting 113-120ms on both IP destinations, but I have experienced the same issue (on other Singaporean IPs) at other times, only for them to be resolved automatically some weeks later.
Perhaps show this to PTCL and show them a comparison with lg.nexlinx.net.pk and request them to look into fixing this ping spike.
Having issues on StormFiber too. It first fails to load at all but when it loads after refreshing multiple times it opens with incomplete thumbnails. Also if you try pinging all google services i.e youtube.com, google.com you will get reply as ipv6 for some reason which is absurd. Can anyone else confirm this too?
I have ptcl GPON connection and whenever I change my dns in DHCP to use cloud flare dns it still uses PTCL dns when I look in the wan information page of router......also can you change ptcl GPON router/ONT frimware to manufacturer's frimware without any issue or loss of internet
Yes i was having issues with all google services too but it has fixed since yesterday late night. The problem persisted from Saturday afternoon until Monday late night.
On the side note, my telenor 4G was completely in-accessible in that period. So there is/was some back-end fiberhaul cable issue probably.
I am using VDSL from PTCL. Is it possible to buy my own VDSL modem (from Asus or TP Link) and configure it to work with ptcl??

yes you can buy but vdsl modems cost like 5 6k last time i checked
most modems have same broadcom chip
so go with ptcl for 2k
I play Rainbow 6 and CS GO but I am not getting any packet loss, I have StormFiber.
Packet loss could either be at PTCL's end, or some other interconnecting network in the middle. The best thing for you to do is to test it with a VPN and otherwise - that way, you'll know if the packet loss is at PTCL's end or a botched router in the middle.

Attenuation is 10.5/7.5 whereas SNR is 7.5/17.5 for downstrean/upstream.. The downstream SNR sometimes drops to as low as 6.5 and broadband performance drops..
Recently, I asked helpline to upgrade me to VDSL, however, I was told that it woul dbe possible only by upgrading package... I even told them to upgrade me to 15MB (as I'm paying for 8MB)...however, it was not done and I was asked to upgrade to 25MB
I'm now thinking of downgrading to 6MB and then upgrade to 8MB VDSL...
I was just wondering if 8MB VDSL will bring about any worthwhile improvement??

if your line is stable and there is no noise in phone line. then there will be no improvement other than higher upload speeds

Not sure about the discount, you'd have to clear that up with them, but your line can support 10 Mbps without affecting stability, so you should opt for the upgrade.
