Well, lets see. These visuals in the tech demo shouldn't be expected for at least first 2 years of the next gen cycle. These seem to be pushing full boundaries of console.

one thing I can say, is every developer and AAA studio is going "okay, now how do we achieve this"
There is a ton of really impressive tech underneath all that, however as pubg, fortnight and minecraft has proved..Graphics are just one ingredient

I don't get it. How can people expect a 500$ ~~~ console to do 4k 60fps with ray tracing on. A 1200$ RTX 2080 Ti isn't even capable of doing that. To be honest i was very impressed with the tech demo. Achieving such visual fidelity on console is a miracle on its own. So we should appreciate it and the upcoming years are going to be even sweeter.

It is a next-gen demo and I don't see what is so next-gen about 30 fps. It felt like Epic telling console gamers, "tum sala ghulam log 30 fps pe he rahay ga". [emoji14]

I sure hope this doesn't become a next-gen standard, even for single player games. The least I would expect is an option to switch to 60 fps in every game, even if devs target 30 fps and a higher resolution as a default.
I think given the option and opportunity, people will go to any extent to play games restricted to 30fps on a system, at 60fps instead :lol:

Xenoblade Definitive edition and Xenoblade 2 don't work afaik, but definitely worth checking out once they do.

Not sure what's so wrong if SolitarySoldier wants the standards to be raised that actually affects gameplay experience instead of moaarr polygons and triangles.

I think owing to the actually modern and relevant CPU structure the new consoles are getting in tandem with the navi 2 GPUs, and not the under-performing even for their time Jaguars and underpowered mobile GPUs, we will definitely see *more* 60 FPS games or games with 60 FPS options this time around.

However, companies will always focus primary marketing on the higher resolution cause that makes for a better and easier to digest buzz-point.

That emulation option is on PC, so what you're essentially saying here is that one should build a PC if they want such opportunities, which is also what I said :lol:

That said, like Chandoo and I also discussed, it's likely that a lot more single-player console games will include options for favoring graphics or performance. Devs have been conditioned to offer such options thanks to the mid-gen consoles.

Don't see how Mark Rein was wrong there. The PS4's architectural differences from PCs do make it more efficient. Aspects like unified memory, or the SoC link between the CPU/GPU. And he also spoke of memory limitations of 32-bit Windows, which was more prevalent at the time. Read the article, not the headline lol.

Battlefield 3 recommended 64-bit OS and this was in 2011. Read some history, not Mark Rein's dated thoughts :lol:

One game that sold millions in a month. Wow, millions of gamers had already upgraded to a 64 bit OS 2 years before Mark Rein started discussing it as a real concern :lol:

The game sold 15 million copies by mid-2012, and that includes the console versions. It's safe to say it didn't sell much more than that. So how many million copies did the PC version sell, then? Around ~5 million would be my guess, and that's definitely a fraction of the overall PC userbase. And how many of those were running the game on 32-bit Windows?

If CPU architecture itself was limited to 32-bit, it would be worth discussing. But holy sh*t talk about the need to defend everything Epic now :lol:
