I'll do after work. Man, I wish the game was coming out a day earlier. I have the 24th off and would have been available all day to play it, instead of the 25th :(

Ah well, the weekend's only 2 days after that.

You're right. I was looking at the Xbox version's product page where it says 12: 00. PC version's page says 7PM EST. That's better.

PLAYING ON PC?

When The Outer Worlds goes on sale on Windows 10 this week, you'll have two options on PC: the Microsoft Store or Epic Games Store. It won't be on Steam until "2020." If you pay for Xbox Game Pass For Windows (or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate), you'll get access to the Microsoft Store version as soon as the game launches. We reviewed the EGS build on PC, and it scaled incredibly well to my review laptop (powered by a notebook version of the GTX 1060 graphics card).

^ My PC is comfortably within the game's system requirements so I'm not expecting any issue. Gears 5 ran at 1080p/60 (or even 1440/60 with dynamic scaling on). Unreal 4 scales pretty well.

Decisions, decisions

The Outer Worlds, the new interstellar role-playing game from Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment, has been getting rave reviews ahead of its release. You might be wondering where and how you can play it when it launches this Friday, Oct. 25. We’re here to help!
Published by 2K Games’ indie label, Private Division, The Outer Worlds will debut on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One this Friday. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development, but it won’t be available until later.
In a refreshing change of pace, there aren’t any special editions of The Outer Worlds; the $59.99 base game is it. And the only pre-order bonuses are on PS4: Customers who pre-order the game from the PlayStation Store will receive a pack of five avatars. The PS4 situation is otherwise simple, though — the only real choice on that platform is between a physical or digital copy.
As for the differences between the two console versions, it’s worth noting that The Outer Worlds will run differently on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Private Division confirmed last weekthat the game “includes 4K textures and resolution on Xbox One X and PC,” while it runs natively at 1440p resolution on PS4 Pro and “upsamples to 4K” from there.
[h=2]GET THE OUTER WORLDS VIA GAME PASS FOR PC, XBOX ONE[/h]

On PC and Xbox One, there’s a way cheaper option than buying the game outright: The Outer Worlds is included in
Xbox Game Passon both platforms at launch. Anyone with a Game Pass subscription can preload the game right now, so they can start playing as soon as it unlocks (see details below). Game Pass costs $9.99 per month on Xbox One and $4.99 a month on PC. Microsoft also offers Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which bundles access on both platforms with an Xbox Live Gold subscription, for $14.99 per month.

There’s an introductory offer where new customers can get their first month of PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate for $1. In addition, Microsoft is running a promotion with Taco Bell from now through Nov. 23 that offers a 14-day trial of Game Pass Ultimate if you buy a $5 Double Chalupa Box.
If you want to play The Outer Worlds on PC but don’t have Game Pass on that platform, you can buy the game in the Microsoft Store. Otherwise, the PC version is sold exclusively in the Epic Games Store. It will not be available on Steam for a full year after launch.
Of course, you can also just buy a physical or digital copy on Xbox One.
[h=2]WHAT TIME DOES THE OUTER WORLDS UNLOCK?[/h]The unlock times for The Outer Worlds depend on whether you’re playing on PC or console.Obsidian laid out the details in a forum post last week.
On PC, the game has a simultaneous global release at midnight U.K. time on Oct. 25. That means it will go live in the U.S. on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. EDT/4 p.m. PDT. Here’s a full list of region-specific time zones:

Game is great in all the typical Obsidian traits you'd expect. But man, the gameplay is stiff as hell. I don't know what game started this trend but off centre reticule just feels awful. I think it was optional in Far Cry 5 but not here.

Obsidian's main strength is writing and that shows really well in the opening hours. Putting a lot of points in charm/dialog skills is actually making things a lot easier for me lol. Combat is just ok but I'm gaining so much more exp from all the speech checks.

I'm investing in dialog skills too but there's plenty of fighting to do and I'm also playing on Hard (lots of reviews recommended above Normal) which is a good balance but also highlights how the gunplay is lacking. But eh, its serviceable I suppose. Enjoying the game regardless.

Anyway, there are several quality of life changes which are good in the long run, like looting menus and inventory is good enough which is hard to do in these games.

Played a few hours last night, some brief impressions.

- Writing is excellent.
- The gunplay and quality of life improvements are a huge leap over the last fallout, even if not as good as Doom 2016 (or even Wolfenstein)
- The best perks in the game are all leaning towards playing solo, without a companion, which is a pretty difficult choice to make.
- The ship AI is pretty damn good
- Playing the game on Normal, difficulty seems ok, leaning towards a bit easy. The fright/cower mechanics make fighting pretty easy.

A lot of people are saying this feels a lot more like Mass Effect than Fallout, I'm still on the first zone and just finished the first companion mission. But that comparison sounds pretty exciting to me.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
