There's "just a few seconds" of gameplay footage in the trailer on the whole. So why is it odd to see just a brief glimpse of stealth? And yes, sneaking through tall grass does count as stealth. Heck, the crouch walk animation is almost exactly like that of Snake's from MGS.

There is no primary emphasis in Kojima's games. MGSV, for example, can exclusively be played as a shooter or a stealth game (minus boss encounters). The same is true for Death Stranding, as Kojima has already stated.

The important thing is that those flashes of gameplay conform to what Kojima has done before. The social aspects can alter the game flow, but they can't alter the mechanical fluidity of shooting, movement, and stealth.

And that makes it a stealth game, which according to Kojima, Death Stranding is not. Action-adventure games now have stealth abilities as well, that doesn't make them stealth games.

Nah. It's an option, not a requirement. Kojima said there are non-fighting options in Death Stranding as well. We've seen a glimpse of stealth. What could these options be, if not for stealth?

That's fine, and quite honestly, I'd want that aspect to remain a mystery. It's part of what makes Kojima's games great. But as far as player mechanics and controls go, I know what to expect more or less.

Can you tell us more about the gameplay?

I can’t really speak on that right now but in a word, it’s an action game – an open world game, with a lot of freedom. You have a lot of freedom of choice to do what you want to do and you can get in vehicles and so on. If you are a fighter, there’s plenty of opportunity for that. If you’re not that type of player, there are other ways to play this game. I can’t really say much more, but it’s an open-world, action game that’s very intuitive to play. Once you get into the world and start to explore more, we’re hoping there’s something there you’ve never seen before.
