Square Enix has confirmed it is working on a Tomb Raider sequel for the next generation of consoles.
In an open letter, the company's Western CEO Phil Rogers confirmed that a sequel has been in development for some time.
"I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently," he wrote.


A sequel was pretty much guaranteed considering the game's success. We heard at Comic-Con this year that Dark Horse comics were producing a series set after the conclusion of the first game and designed to lead into the eventual follow-up.

In an open letter from Square Enix CEO Phil Rogers comes confirmation that a next-generation sequel to this year's Tomb Raider is "well into development."

The letter is a lengthy note assuring gamers that Square Enix is still a games company and that they'll continue making "triple-A console and PC games."

"I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently!" CEO Phil Rogers wrote.

Recently, comic book writer Gail Simone spoke to Kotaku, where she revealed that a Tomb Raider comic book series in 2014 "will be Tomb Raider canon, and lead directly into the sequel."


The note from Rogers also states that we'll be hearing more from Square Enix on its upcoming games soon.

Would be cool to see Next gen character model of lara. :wink2:
And the environments too since Tomb Raider had great environments and atmosphere, eye candy on next gen would be AMAZING (if they don't mess up that is).

I'm not AS excited as you people. Tomb Raider's story was pretty mediocre. I'm expecting nothing less from the sequel.

sounds great, tomb raider was a good reboot. In today's age of linear shooters, TR did a great job of merging both linear parts with semi-open areas that let you explore the game world.

No one played the game for story tho :p
Story wasnt the selling point,it was the amazing graphics and gameplay. Gona start it again in a day or two hopefully.

Tomb Raider was one great Game i would say, did excellent job on it. TR reboot did includes everything from its basic game to modern era.

waiting for sequel of it now, will be more astonishing and exciting.

    So i just found out that f***ing s***bag Microsoft shut down Arkane Studio (makers of the brilliant Dishonored series) and Tango Gameworks (makers of the iconic The Evil Within series), among some other studios.
