these are from the miui camera, the port of google camera with HDR+ for redmi note 4 does even better.

Get the 3gb/32gb variant, it's a great buy for the price, I opted for the 4/64gb variant because I wanted a future proof device as i am going to use it for next few years.

Yes, these have started to show in the market now, you can get them from certain Facebook pages as well.

Once I installed 2.5 d protector on my honor 6x. After few months it broke. It was very hard to peel off this protector. It was plastic like material and had glue on the edges for firm grip but it becomes pain in *ss while peeling off. It was not a tempered glass. Tempered glass is supposed to break itself to save screen. In tempered glass force on glass is supposedly spreads in glass instead of shifting to screen. And also the glue that stays on screen after peeling off does not go away easily. And to remove this glue you may end up scratching your screen like I did. It took me more than hour to clean surface. Luckily scratch was on black part of surface and was visible only at a certain angle.

It was my experience. Kindly check the quality before buying a protector for your phone.

I may get this but I am concerned about MIUI security patch level. It shows July 2017. I think even August and September ones came, how often are they pushed out? Plus, can you please tell me if you have tried any Custom ROM for this? I am seeing Unofficial Lineage OS builds for this.

This device has one of the biggest dev community for a 2k17 device, above 50 custom roms for the snapdragon variant. The unofficial lineage is for Android 8.0 custom roms at the moment, almost all custom roms on 7.1 are official and 8 will soon become official as well.
Currently my phone has the August security patch, patch version may be updated in tomorrow's update or the one coming next week.
