XBOX Xbox in trouble - FY20 Q2 revenue down by 21%

Xbox content and services fell $295 million year-over-year, or by 11 percent. Microsoft says growth in its own subscription services (likely Xbox Game Pass) helped offset a decline caused mostly by the fact that an unnamed third-party title set the bar high during the same quarter last year.

Who didn't see this coming? The lack of exclusives hurts a console in the long run, and this is a great case study in that regard. Meanwhile, Game Pass subscriptions have doubled, though it's questionable as to how profitable it is for MS. Things aren't looking bright for the next Xbox consoles.

I hope Sony is taking note of this and makes the right call w.r.t. the likelihood of Playstation exclusives being on PC, for it too will end up like Xbox if it takes the same route.

Convenience, plug and play doesn't hold that much of an argument anymore. PC ports are getting better, windows is getting more user friendly, while consoles are getting more and more complicated. The Snes era of essentially poping the cartridge in and playing are long gone.

I doubt Sony will copy Microsoft fully, but will occasionally port older exclusives just to get the bit more money outta them

3rd quarter has seen a decline YoY, but 2019 is the 2nd biggest year in Playstation history (not just PS4). I think they're doing fine :hah:
