buying new xbox360

buying from plug and play islamabad f7. xbox360 go pro. i need to know i can be 100% sure it is falcon and not old normal. it is made in china and taiwan. will that be a problem for the games. and region. i guess its ntsc-j. its 110 v. how to check manufacture date and all. it doesnt say on box. also where can i get the vga cable as i intend to play on monitor. thanks alot and any other advice.

Hi Jiggy; I don't think that 110 Volt is NTSC-J; It might be NTSC-UC
All the Falcons have HDMI Port so if it is Go Pro and have HDMI Port then it is Falcon.

Put Game Need for speed Pro Street from Local Market in it and if it doesnt' play it then it is not NTSC-J for sure.

Also DVD Region is written on the Vertical Sides of teh box in Left Bottom Corner if it is DVD Region 1 then it is NTSC-UC for sure.

Details for DVD Regions is as below.

REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China

DVD Region Codes for XBOX360 are as below

•NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)•NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan) •PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand

So DVD Region 2 & 3 is for NTSC-J.

Hi I am in Qatar but told my cousin to buy xbox from pakistan, he bought from lahore, all indications are for falcon, he opened and check the power supply which is 175, manufacture is 2008, lot is 800 plus, so i look forward to getting it

he can paly copy games, but am i correct if game si modded it can paly all copy games region does not matter? thanks

hey...are premium falcons available here as well? i read the guide so i know most of wat i shud to spot a falcon! but do they come in premium? if they do then wats the price? wat wud u recommend premium or arcade??

PS- im sorry im asking so many questions...hate to be a bother...but i really appreciate u helpin me out mate!

No bother at all man. I asked same questions when i was getting my xbox. Falcon Premium are available and they are around 3-4 k more expensive than old model. Price of Falcon premium was 32k 2 months ago. Dont know the current price though but Future zone had an Arcade for 23k a months ago. Dont know if they have more. Every shopkeeper will increase the price now that dollar has gotten a bit expensive. Atleast that is what i faced when i bought my lcd monitor yesterday. And deciding between Premium and arcade is all on ur budget.

Arcade is without Headset, Component Cable, Hard disk and Ethernet cable. Premium comes with all of that. Now Arcade will cost u atleast 10k less. U can get used hard disk for around 2k here on PG. Every month somebody sells his stuff and u can get it. As for headset, u can use any ordinary mobile handsfree. Im using my motorola handsfree. U can get 10 feet long Ethernet cable or lan cable for around Rs. 50 from any computer shop. As for component cable well thats tricky cuz component cable provides best visual quality after HDMI but u need a good tv for that. Since i was gonna play xbox360 on my 5 year old 14 inch LG tv, i didnt care bot it that much and used the composite cable that came with it.

Component cable = red,blue,green,white,red wires.
Composite cable = yellow, white, red wires.

If u plan on using ur xbox with home theater etc then get component cable cuz only component cable has digital audio signal required for 5.1 or higher surround sound.

But then u can buy that cable from PG market place later. IMHO, get falcon as its cheaper. Use extra money to bye games. But try to get ntsc-j arcade. Its hard to find but shops have it in limited supply as mostly deal with either premium or pal arcade.

Metro Lahore has old xbox 360 for 28500 (something around that fig) and they give 1 year complete warranty. Confirm that warranty thing from them again. That warranty also covers RRoD so atleast ull have freedom of mind. Otherwise Falcon is completely safe aswell.

@ ghoststalker, You can buy the VGA HD cable from Plug n Play.

The most dominant region for Pakistan is NTSC/J (Asian) i.e. the games released in Pakistan belong to NTSC/J region.

The manufacturing date is at the back of the console itself just near the HDMI, I/O port. You can ask him to open the box for you. It's not that the 360s comes seal packed in Pakistan.

As for finding out whether it's Falcon or not, check out How to find a 'FALCON' Xbox 360 without opening the box... guide.

i dont have a problem with the tv...its big an HD but not 5.1...i dont need a headset...an ethernet cables are easy to get...so basically we're down to the component cable!

u say that its the 2nd best to HDMI...is the VGA HD cable and component cable the same thing...or is the VGA HD cable = HDMI cable?

will it cost just abt the same as a premium?

Is the region of the console clearly mentioned? or do i have to figure out myself?


PS- i know that VGA an HDMI both are HD but since i dont really know abt this stuff an i want to be sure before i spend some! im really starting to like this community..lol..helps more than any other!

well yeah hdmi is the best bet...other thn i guess component is a better choise cuz i heard colours r washed out on the vga....secondly if ur playing on a hd-tv use an hdmi connection...if not then the component cable....if ur using an lcd moniter get ur self a dragon 360cable + rca to 3.5mm convertor n connect the 360 to ur pc's display n run sound through ur pc's soundcard...for tht plug red n white cables in the convertor n thn plug the 3.5 mm jack into the blue jack on ur sound card...n in the sound manager turn up line-in volume...:)..hope tht helps....rca convrtor looks lyk this

VGA<Component<HDMI

X<Y where Y denotes better quality. If u have HD tv then ur tv should have hdmi port and falcon consoles have hdmi port aswell. Plug it in and ull have best possible video on ur tv. HDMI cable costs around 600 from decent game shops. If u dont have HDMI in ur tv (which i doubt) then get Component cable which should cost u not more that 500. And for 5.1 u need a total of 5 speakers and a subwoofer. I dont know that for sure since i dont have component cable but it should have optical cable output which is required for 5.1 surround sound. Connect ur optical cable with amp and ull have 5.1. And home theaters ie 5.1 systems cost around 4k-20k these days. I bought mine 2 years ago for 55K (sony) but prices have fallen down rapidly since LCDs started selling at a regualr pace.

oh ok thanks...lol....i DO have an HDTV (it says so everywhere) it even has options for different HD modes...(like 1080dpi or sumthin like that)...BUT theres a port at the back...that looks like the ones where u attach monitor cables for PCs...an above it is written..."VGA IN" !! What do u make ov that?? HDTV or not? an if it is then i should be getting an HDMI cable right?

So basically if i buy an Arcade falcon (NTSC-J)...an get an HDMI cable and a wireless controller (new) its gonna cost me roughly 2.8-3 K...other than the xbox cost...ryte?? Its cool then...im all for it!

PS- DO I NEED TO KNOW ANYTHING ELSE?

n abt ur tv it must have a port lyk this

can u read the hdmi written bellow a port?....thts hdmi port..if u have it thn ur all set an buy the hdmi cable for 600-800rs........if not thn u already have a vga cable in so u can easily get hd content...:)

dude...
i took a picture of the back of my tv....but i dnt have a clue as to how to show it....i tried attaching but that just shows a thumbnail!...anyways....

i only have a "VGA IN" port...and an S-VIDEO port....but i have HDTV options in the TV MENU!!! i mean i can select from various 1080i/60 , 1080p/60...an a couple of others!! so what cable should i be buying?

U must have either hdmi port (some nobel and philips hdtvs come without hdmi for apparently no reason) or DVI port. HDMI and DVI have identical video quality with only difference being that HDMI ports audio aswell where as DVI is strictly video. Google images for what DVI looks like. and if u dont have it either then only buy composite. Dont buy VGA unless u r hooking it to ur monitor. I repeat again, dont buy VGA and buy composite instead if ur Tv has no HDMI or DVI port (which is highly unlikely since u mentioned urself that u have a good HDTV). If u dont know bot either of em, just tell me ur tv brand and model num and n ill look online. If ur tv has no hdmi but DVI port then buy HDMI->DVI cable which costs around 700 and ull be good to go.

hey Z...yar i have like i said...there is only a VGA port (like the ones for monitor jacks)...behind my tv...AND an S-Video port (dunno wat its for)!!! but the tv menu does have HDTV options...like any HDTV! its a NOBEL 34" Flat Screen HDTV model no. DCL-34D1 !!! Now this might NOT be an HDTV...im just saying since it has so many options for HDTV wats the catch!???

im tryin to upload pics of the back an the tv menu!

cant find that model online and u r saying k ur tv has vga and s-video only? along with composite ofcourse but no component. Just try to post pic of ur tv' back. Ill c wether u have component or not. Man every tv comes with that now. I dont know bot nobel though.

yea well my genius ass didnt know that the "YPbPr" input is for the HDTV...lol...so i didnt mention it...i looked at the TV manual last nite..an figured out...a frend told me that i just needed a component cable that came with the premium console! an yea i will go for a premium cuz its got the hard-drive! i guess we've figured everything out now!! thanks for ur help mate...an fady too! although i doubt it but i hope i can be of sum help sumday too! lol

Yeah well good for u boy but atleast check the prices of both premium and arcade and if arcade is 10k cheaper (n all arcade are FALCON) then buy it as component cable costs around 500 max.

ah man...if i buy premium its ONLY cuz i want a hard-drive! otherwise im all for arcade!!!! an this frend of mine..who's got a LOT of knowledge abt ths kinda electronic stuff says he wud DEFINITELY go for the premium! well if i DO buy a premium...can i tell its a falcon by looking at these, right?

The controller will cost around 2500-3000rs. And the HDMI cable will cost around 2000-3000rs. ( not sure )

Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
