Worst Experience with FoodPanda

Asslamu Alaikum, I would like to share an awful experience I had twice with Foodpanda in case you plan to use your debit / credit card online. Last year I placed an order on Foodpanda and used my card to pay online, however they sent me a message saying the restaurant has cancelled your order and your funds will be refunded back into your account, a few days and then weeks passed and it didn't happen. Upon contacting Foodpanda they gave me an screenshot which represented nothing but an authorization code that they said I should tell my bank? What? Never heard that kind of a refund before since I also run a business. Anyway, when I gave it to my bank they told me that they have no idea what I'm talking about and there has been no refunds from Foodpanda. That's that, I kissed my money good bye.

2 weeks ago when I came back from abroad I thought I'd order something and thought what's the worst that could happen, guess what? The worst happened and the restaurant cancelled it, a different restaurant this time and I again heard the same thing from Foodpanda that I'll get my funds back in 5 days, it has been almost two weeks since and I still haven't gotten my money back. Again, they provided me with a similar authoriziation code like last time and again my bank told me that there has been no refunds into my account. On top of everything else, they have a tendency to just ignore people.

Never in my entire life I have been asked to contact MY bank for a refund that someone else is responsible for. Here are some screenshots of their epic customer service to my problem:




If it was a one time occurance I would say probably a mistake or human error but now I only wonder how many others have also lost their money just like that?

Holy shit you let that go not one, but two times?! I order quite a lot from Foodpanda but NEVER with cards i always opt for cash on delivery for this very reason. This has happened with me once when using EatMubarak, its a similar app. The restaurant which was BurgerLab closed and cancelled my order and i was stupid enough to pay with brothers card beforehand. My brother called the restaurant directly multiple times until he could talk to the manager to speak some sense into him, who then agreed to refund the full amount plus complimentary meal delivery as an apology

Never seen such stupidity in my entire life. I would file a dispute about something that exists, a transaction that is blocked or refused but how the hell on earth I'm supposed to workaround a non-existing transaction? I'm pretty sure they aren't even checking on with their own intermediary or bank to look into it. Pathetic, I would have continue to use thier cash on delivery method but I'm simply disgusted by the entire company as of now. God help us.

Try putting this complaint on their social media pages, that might attract the attention of people who actual understand your problem.
I think currently you are being directed to people on the helpline, who are usually nothing more than preprogrammed robots and are just trying to get rid of you as politely as possible with whatever excuse you buy. I have experienced this everywhere be it banks or offices, every front desk officer just wants to get rid of you like this. It's when you are able to grab the attention of people in charge that you finally have someone who is willing to solve your issue.

Why would you repeat your own mistake? And FoodPanda has been going downhill since the last two years. How hard is it to order something directly from a restaurant? SMH

you know what they say, shame on you for fooling me once, shame on me for getting fooled twice..

buddy never ever use debit credit on pakistani websites unless its daraz and they too go via easypaisa merchant so thats a bit safe but i would never store or use foodpandas service with my credit or debit since they have the pay via cash on delivery option... i guess u can call them and keep on nagging them until you get your cash back

bro you need to post this in SWOTS guide page on Facebook. its the largest foodies page on FB for Karachi. Any negative feedback there of any restaurant gets you immediate attention

I had bad experiences with food panda too. once i ordered something from a restaurant (OPTP) and the order never came and it vanished from my order list afterwards.
another time i ordered pizza, the delivery charges was written 100 but they charged 150 upon arrival.
So i learned my lesson and now i dont use foodpanda

There is no such thing as authorization code for credit card refunds. They are fooling you. I've had hundreds of refunds from international and domestic merchants in last 15 years and never heard such a thing. I've been a merchant myself (online business), issuing a cc refund is fairly simple. Foodpanda employees are either incompetent or don't want to pay you back.

Also, its almost impossible to get charge-back by opening dispute with your bank. Some banks here don't even allow it. All transactions are final unless refunded by merchant, this is what bank Alfalah told me when I tried to open dispute for unfair charge.

Due to no consumer protection in Pakistan, I refuse to use my cards on any Pakistani website, including Daraz. Better safe than sorry.
