Assalam Alekum. i have 3 routers, and all 3 of them are giving me some problems so i would like some advice over what i should do now.
first i bought a linksys wrt54g (v7), the router is working and i can connect to it wirelessly, but the ethernet and internet port on the router are not working. i.e. if i connect the internet to the internet port, or any computer through the lan port, the lights do not blink on the panel and it doesnt work. but i can connect to the router through wifi.. ofcourse that is of no use since i cant use internet..

then i bought a linksys wrt120n.. i have sent it in warranty thrice but it still comes back the same way i sent it. the issue with it is that everything works perfectly but only for 20-30mins, then the router hangs up and i have to turn it off for a few mins to get it to work again for 20mins..

i got tired of sending it in warranty so yesterday i went to uni plaza. i had gone to get my wrt54g repaired but didnt find any shop to repair there.. its a very big hassle for me to go there so in the end i decided to just buy another router so i got the tenda w268r. this router is working great on my iphone, but it isnt working on the laptop if i turn the security on. if i keep the network open, i.e. security disable then it works on the laptop but i cant leave it like that because then all my neighbors will ride it freely and i have a limited internet connection :p when i enable security (WPA-P, WPA2-P or practically any) the iphone works fine but laptop doesnt work...

firstly thanks for reading all through that.. now in a nutshell, my question is:
is there any way to get my laptop working on the tenda with the security on? i dont want to go to uni plaza again to get the tenda repaired in warranty..
is there something i can do with the linksys 120N to get it to work properly?
is there something i can do with the linksys wrt54g to get it to work properly?

otherwise do you know anyone or any shop who can repair the wrt54g so that the internet and lan ports start working, since that is the only issue i am having in that router.
any help in this matter will be highly appreciated. Thanks :)

just incase someone else may benefit from this:
since i could not get the tenda to work with my laptop with security on, i turned the encryption off. but i didnt want people free riding my internet, so i tinkered with the settings. the DHCP server my router creates now only has 2 slots, my iphone and laptop connect to those slots so anyone else cannot connect to the router since there is no available IP address to connect to.. if i need to add one more device i will just increase the IP address slots to 3 :)
right now my DHCP address starts from 192.168.2.100 and end at 192.168.2.101

Hope this can be of help to someone

1st...limiting dhcp wont stop other to accessing ur network...if they give a manual IP to their wireless lan of ur network they can access ur internet...u could try to change ur dhcp iP to something that is not common to decrease the percentage of intruders....

2nd....check ur ethernet wire..maybe that is causing problem.....i have a linksys router which works on both wireless and wired but 1 out of 4 slot is faulty so there is a chance that ur router is damage....

3rd...try tu change ur routers adapter...check the required amp and watt and run ur router with another same spec adapter...sometimes adapter causes issues

4th....what kindof error ur laptop gave while accessing ur secure wireless router....

there is a slight chance that you are not setting up your router properly. if u have a separate modem and that has DHCP enabled then disable the DHCP on wireless the router. In wireless security use WPA2-PSK and try TKIP encryption and see if your laptop connects to it properly. also plug your modem into the router's Ethernet port not the WAN port. if you want i could post screenshots of the settings you might need to change to get it working properly.

Instead of limiting DHCP, use MAC ADDRESS FILTERING option, and place your devices' MAC ADDRESSES to the white list/permit list and then select the option to permit only those devices in that list...
This way without encrypting a password to your Wi-Fi, you can secure it as no other device outside that list could access the router/net

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
