Hello everyone,

I am very curious to know why there are so few consumer ISPs now offering their services through phone lines as there were before. I live in Karachi and was a user of Maxcom until it is bought by PTCL. These days I find very few options to PTCL especially. PTCL has stiffled healthy competition and created a monopoly. That is not good for us; the consumers as we are completely at the whims of PTCL and we have no option but to accept bad customer service from PTCL, frequent disconnections as well as PTCL takes it too long to implement what the consumer requests them for eg. downgrading their packages, even if the consumers stop their Broadband services from PTCL you will find broadband charges in the next bill untill you personally go their and get that corrected. Also chai pani to linemen is another drawback. There is only one ISP offering competitive broadband packages besides PTCL and that is Linkdotnet but I have heard that there service is also not good. The others provide wireless services and the best among them I think is Witribe but they have caps and many other limitations. What do you see for the near future? Would the PTCL monopoly continue or we would see other ISPs too offering competitive consumer packages with good customer services. I think there should be choice? What is your opinion?:damnit:

every ISP use PTCL servers/equipment on back end, they have to use it bcoz there is no alternate other then PTCL. Worldcall DSL broadband packages are also decent and comparable with ptcl.

The following things future seems to be dark. I don't have good hopes for their future.

P for Pakistan
P for PTCL
P for PPP

I personally think P alphabet future will never be bright :( Its all Dark!

People in Pakistan like to follow the crowd. That is why they all usually drive the same cars, wear the same clothes, shop at the same stores and use the same ISPs :)
