So bro, you seem to progress under democracy right....
FYI have u ever came across the fact about literacy rate of Pakistan and how much people living in pakistan are literate?
List of countries by literacy rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And that's the reason democracy ain't working here because people really can't decide who will be good for them especially for their country. Dictatorship is it, cause it works effectively without taking any opinion
Do you think progress takes a few years? Do you think a country like Pakistan, burdened with debt, inheriting a power crisis and saddled with a military establishment that thinks every 'bloody civilian' should lick its boots is going to achieve 'progress' in a few years?
I'm sorry if this question seems insulting, but do you actually have any semblance of an idea of how a country works, of how democracy, or of how Pakistani politics work?
And you want progress? Imran Khan is progress. I loathe the guy as a politicial entity, but he's gotten hundreds of thousands of people like us on the street. Democracy wasn't working in Pakistan because the urban middle class was too busy worrying about finances to engage in political discourse. But hey, now they aren't. Now many, many middle class Pakistanis are getting out there, registering their votes, talking about politics and engaging in debate on Facebook groups (as ridiculous as that may sound, it's still debate). THAT, is progress. That is what democracy gets you. In a dictatorship you can't change anything if things are going shit. Zia's was a dictatorship, and not one soul could do anything about it as he relegated Ahmedi's to second class status, took a massive shit on culture and the arts and turned Pakistan into a mess of conflicting religious ideologies and stone-age laws.
In a democracy if things are going shit, you can change it. You can go out and vote, and change things. If you're an IK supporter, you don't need to hope that he becomes PM - you just need to get enough votes for that man to have a fair amount of seats in the NA.
You know that PTA blanket ban on 5759875982374593 words? You know that wasn't implemented right? It wasn't implemented because people and newspapers kicked up a fuss. That gave your mobile operators balls to pressure PTA and voila, no retarded ban. Had it been a lovely dictatorship, you'd probably be finding your number disbarred because you messaged a friend to buy Assassins Creed 2.
Dictatorships are oppressive. They curtail liberty and offer you a false sense of security. Democracies work, but you have to give them time. You can't be an idiot and think that democracy would work 4 years in. It doesn't. It requires every stakeholder in Pakistan to stand up and ask for representation; to DEMAND representation.
In a dictatorship you can't choose who fucks you over. In a democracy, you can. It boils down to choice - and thank you but if I'm going to be screwed over I'd like to choose who does the screwing.
