Which Graphic card would be suitable for me? playing at 1080p

i want to play latest games atleast on mid-high settings at 1050p. 1680x1050. games like gta v, far cry 4, shadow of mordor, whticher 3.
rest of my pc is
core i3 4160 4th gen
ram 8gb crucial ballistix
asus b85m-g
1tb WD blue
160gb intel ssd.
500 watts psu
i need suggestions based on your experiences. thanks brothers

r9 270 is far superior to 750Ti for the money.
if you are realist rather than brand loyalist (aka fanboy) then go for 270.

Note that 270 and 270X is almost same.

thanks bro, although iam not a fanboy ;-) but i cant deny that i have had better gaming experience with nvidia cards vs amd cards in the past, however, it is not necessary it always remain the same, and thats why iam here. Anyways, i have heard (correct me if iam wrong) that whenever a new game is released or atleast 70-80 % of times, there are some driver issues with amd cards, is that true? if not, maybe i'll consider buying a amd card this time.

270x is a far better performer than 750ti. 750ti would only be recommended if you don't have a good PSU. Other option is 760 which you can get used in the same price as new 270x or 750ti.

yup psu is good its 500 watt psu with 1 6pin and 1 8pin gpu connector.

Using a 280x since the day it was released.
And I assure you i had ZERO, i say, ZERO driver issues upto date.

And the drivers has been pretty great since the introduction of the 7xxx series!

And 280x has given a full blown off performance on 1080p at every new game without any driver issue.

Quit believing those Anti AMD words and give it a try yourself.

Drivers have improved since 5xxx

Nvidia vs AMD is purely a personal choice. Both have good options with different plus points. Like you I didn't have great experience with ATI in the past and Nvidia GPUs have also given me more peace of mind. Thats why I prefer Nvidia even if I have to pay a little more for the same level of performance.
AMD has improved their Driver issues. The current concern is that they are not as efficient and proactive in releasing new updates for every new AAA title as Nvidia. AMD's mantle going down the drain hasn't helped them much either. The new Fiji series was pitched to be the Maxwell killer which again didn't turn out their way. 3xx series is dubious as hell. Half of them are rebrands of the previous series the other half based on fiji aren't as good as they were thought to be. Bottom line is that AMD's future does't look very secure. while Nvidia still seems to be going very strong. As gamers we do need AMD as competition or the prices will get out of hand.

What are your idle and load temps during a hot day. I am a big fan of 280x but I am wary of its temps due to its high power requirement.

Not less than 40c and not higher than 70c.

Also my one of my fan got something stuck on it so it goes as far as 86c now.



Average idle: 40-46c
Average max: 64-70c

After one of the fan:

I believe Mantle issue is purely microsoft related and about the future of AMD, it wont go down, Ever.

strix is just overclock variant from asus. nothing else. chip is same
