Greetings Warriors
The PG SSFIV Team Tournament was a success for the most part. The delays were disappointing, but overall it went smoothly. Congrats to Darkangel & Executioner once more.
Iamtheone, Irontriggor, Bad Mofo and I have been throwing ideas on the table, trying to decide what the next competition should be. I've narrowed it down to 4 ideas - 2 standard, 2 offbeat. I would urge everyone to read the description of each contest, and decide which one appeals to them the most.
I might not play SSFIV as much as I used to in the coming months (Internship + Blazblue). However, I won't mind hosting another contest. We might even host two or three or all of your choices if other people are willing to organise. I can't say when I will be free enough to host, but for the time being, just vote and we'll see what happens.
Singles Tournament
Self-explanatory. No character restrictions. Choose whoever you want. I'm thinking we should have a double elimination this time. ie: A winner's bracket and a loser's bracket. A win will be registered when a player wins 2 matches out of a possible 3.
Team Tournament
Another team tournament. Teams of 2 or teams of 3 depending on the wishes of the public. Character restrictions apply. Can't have the same character as your team-mate and can't change character during tournament.
Super Weekends
Every week, we have a mini-tournament during the weekend. Whoever shows up can join. Every week, there will be a different rule. Character restrictions will be subject to these rules. Rules can be anything from 'Only Ultra 1 allowed' or 'Random Select only' to 'Only low tiers allowed' or 'Only women characters allowed'.
Official PG Danisen League
I had no idea how we could possibly start a SSFIV league. Until I visited iplaywinner. Various arcades in Japan have started a 'Danisen league' to keep the Third Strike scene alive. And the scene has exploded. Iplaywinner is talking about starting one for Third Strike online, but I don't see why we can't do this for SSFIV.
The rules are simple. Remember how in Tekken your character gets ranks like '1st Kyu', '3rd Dan', 'Champion', 'Tekken God' etc.? Same concept. Everyone starts at 1st Dan. If you win a match, you get +1 points. Everytime you lose a match, you get -1 points. Once a person gets +3 points, they rank up. Once you get -3 points, you get demoted. Also, the ranks are not for the player, but for his character. As your character's rank increases, it becomes tougher to rank up. For eg: After 10th Dan, you have to get +5 points to rank up, but -3 to get demoted.
You can rank up one character, then rank another, then another. So you can have rankings like 'Triggor's Abel is 10th Dan', 'Sunny's Honda is 5th Dan', 'Sephi's Dhalsim is 2nd Dan', etc. For more details, read this.
The biggest drawback of this is it needs a lot of organisers to keep track (3 minimum). A proper league can only be run when there's someone spectating and keeping track of this stuff.

Anyway, these are the ideas I came up with. Don't rush it, take your time, ask your friends, then vote.
