Hello PGers,
Long time no see. I wasn't very active the past few weeks because of exams and everything (and I had stopped gaming for the time being). I am back now and Hey.

On topic: I have saved a bit of money, 2000 sar to be exact. Now the thing is, I am confused on what to buy. I am having weird thoughts about it.
Let me start by telling what I have thought of so far:
A DSLR Camera (can add a few 100 for it) I like photography but I don't think that I would have so much interest that I would buy an expensive ass camera just to take a few good photos. I have a Samsung digital camera for now with a front screen and it can take good pics.
I really want to learn playing some instrument and saw an electric guitar in a shop, my friend played it and now I seriously want to buy it. The beginners electric guitar can be bought for 1300 with an amplifier and the brand is Yamaha. As for if I know how to play a acoustic guitar, I don't! I really don't want to buy an acoustic version of a guitar since I barely like listening to acoustic.
I thought of buying a mobile but my parents don't want me to buy it before I finish half of my high school; so that's out of the option.
A tablet - since I really love reading and buying books over and over seems expensive and I tend to pirate ebooks then (devil) Asides from that, it can come in handy other times as well.
A laptop - This seems as a good idea but I seriously have no need for it now so it's pretty much useless.
Thought of buying something for the computer hardware but I really see no use in it as I can play every other game on this one very easily and watch anime.

Any other suggestion on what to buy would really help.

Now comes my friend - he is really good in playing guitars (acoustic ones) and really likes photography as well. He also wants to buy either a DSLR or an electric guitar. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks.

I tell you the easiest method, Take out a paper. Write down all your ideas and start giving them Ratings like 1 - 5 stars. and start cutting off the ones with low ratings until you are left with only 3 options. Than select any one of them and forget about others.

That seems as a good idea if I know what I want to buy. First, I should take in all the options then try this. I will definitely though.

one should buy a camera n other a guitar n u both will be happy
We thought of that. But if he buys a guitar, I would seriously feel jealous since I am a huge fan of metal unlike him.

First of all, only buy a musical instrument if you have a strong passion for it and if you are accustomed to the "feel" of it, I've known countless people who bought instruments because they thought the instrument had more appeal, but after just a few months their instruments are lying around somewhere gathering dust. Similarly don't buy an instrument because you're a "fan" of something, listening to music and playing music are completely different things.

As for the other things, my advice would be the same. Buy something that you'll keep using in the long term, something that won't make you get bored and back out of it.

Thanks for the advice. I will try playing my friend's guitar first and see if I like the feel of it. Even if listening and playing are different things, I really do want to play. Thanks once again

That would be a good idea, If you can, borrow it for a day then play along to random songs, It might be out of place and tiring at first, but eventually you might be able to hold through. IF at the end of the day you feel it's your thing, then by all means get one.

Also, for the other things, you don't show much enthusiasm for them other than the tablet, so if you really don't have a 'need' for them, then it would be wise to not get anything for now and save it for when something really catches your eye.

I will try asking him if he can lend me plus I will go to his house so it can work out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, I don't show much enthusiasm because I really don't want them; that's why I asked you guys if you can help me think of something worthy to buy other than a guitar, tablet or camera.

Since you're a huge metal fan, buy an electric guitar(y)

The best advice I can give you is to go with the guitar.

First of all, a tablet and a laptop, they're not bad but they are just electronics and I am sure you have a computer at home to substitute for it. And a DSLR? I don't know, you might be buying it because you may have thought to yourself that every teenager nowadays has it and it looks cool to do some photography. But then again, that's just my opinion. The reason I mentioned the guitar was that it is a fun and productive hobby, and the more you practice, the more you will get better at it, as I cannot say the same thing for photography, I think photography is something you're naturally good at or you're not. But then again this is just my opinion.

And if you and your friend both get a guitar, it'll be more fun for the both of you in many ways.

The only reason I wanted to go for a tablet/laptop was because I would be leaving for vacations abroad and it would be hard for me to go online from a mobile or something. You are right, I pretty much wanted to buy a DSLR because of that but photography is not a natural talent, you have to practice to better at it.
I would definitely go for a guitar, pray that my parents allow. It will be more fun, you are right. Thanks for your opinion.

That's a really good idea. As I said, the guitar I am thinking of buying seems cheap, 1300 (and its electrical) so I can save the rest.

+1. I'd do that as well !!
Jshak idea FTW :D

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
