Three factors:-

1. People have to move on with their lives at some point. Scores of members are not into IT-oriented careers and eventually relinquish their [costly] PC-building hobby after job and marriage because may not have time and resources to spare for the said purpose anymore. Therefore, PC-related matters and discussions might take a back seat in their lives.

2. Affordability of gadgets; a key driving force behind discussions is exposure to top-of-the-line gadgets from time-to-time. If masses are not able to afford top-of-the-line gadgets on a frequent basis, many will loose interest or will not have much to talk about.

3. Lure of social media - ability to connect and converse with your friends and family members. Good time-pass.

However, game is not over for a decent forum yet.

I don't post as much as I used to, but I still visit PG everyday. I grew up with this forum. It'll always have a special place in my heart.

^ Who bought it lol?

Honestly what Legend said sums it up pretty well. Forums are somewhat an old thing to hangout, people or young ones like to sit on FB/watsapp/twitter more these days. When it comes to discussing games sure they can come here but again other than games and just hanging and interacting with others, they'd rather do it on the social media.

This forum always seemed half dead to me when I first arrived. It still is, and while I haven't completely checked this place, some of the normal threads only seem to have one or two people keeping it alive and posting topics in them (the Anime and Nintendo Hub especially).

I guess it must have been pretty active when the seniors used to be here (as many others have already said), and most people nowadays use social media (Facebook, Whatsapp e.t.c.).

I don't think this forum would really die, though. Might still take some time for it to completely drop dead.

We have over 200 posts a day these days- so wouldnt call it dead...we used to hit much more though.

Now coming to the point, recent changes are actually pretty good and I can already see things turning around for the better

well 200+ posts wouldn't mean much if 40% is for the marketplace, and we are counting multiple posts per user :p That's what i was asking AbbY what kind of statistics can we measure wanted to see it xD

Much like most people who posted here, I'm visiting everyday but not posting :)
Man we need you all posting again!

I checked the activity stats and 80% of the people who used to be active between 2012-2016 did come online at least once during the last 3 days.

If you guys come, why mustn't you guys post like you used to!

Our biggest asset, at PG, is YOU ALL, the community! If the community stops posting and becomes silent observers, we lose what we boast.

I have found a hack that has worked on me. Summon inactive people in threads by mentioning them and asking for their opinions. It leads to discussions :p

This! if you look at login stats on my handle then you'd know I visit the forum daily at multiples times to see what is being discussed etc and I generally do read discussions going on in the broadband/networks, MP and sometimes gaming (PC) threads.

Not sure why I am not posting though

Idk, maybe revamp the UI so that the UX is new and feels different. Abhi, things actually are OLD, I mean the forum mostly been the same this decade (except for the re-organisation of forums and sub-forums).

Overhauling this will too much effort. I would suggest getting a Sub-reddit on Reddit and Leave this site as it is. Managing reddit will be much easier and we can spread it even more.
Thats just moving from one place to another.
Reddit is just a mini forum. :\

Leaving everything behind isn't gonna be easy.
so thats not really much of an option.

I'm with you guys on the overhaul.
It doesn't feel modern anymore.

On a serious note though, I think its high time we have a dedicated App too, not just Tapatalk etc...

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
