Wateen Telecom : DNS Servers

Hi everyone!

I recently switched to Wateen's Broadband internet. The connection speed is 10 Mbps, and the speedtests prove it. However, when it comes to browsing, I feel like that it could be faster.

I have tried using multiple DNS servers (58.27.149.60 : Wateen's own server), google,cloudflare.etc

However during different times of the day, I often need to change the dns.

Please recommend any suitable DNS server that works perfectly throughout the day.

Ping the following:

8.8.8.8

1.1.1.1

208.67.222.222

See whichever gets the lowest latency. Set that as your DNS.
Run ipconfig /flushdns in CMD, restart your PC.

Google's and OpenDNS servers will help you in routing you to the closest CDN - others (Cloudfare, Level 3, C&W etc.) won't.

An alternative would be to find and use a Pakistani server - they tend to do a fairly decent job, but aren't easy to remember and their DNS servers may not always respond (i.e. their uptime might not always be 24/7). The thing with Google or OpenDNS or other CDN-based DNS resolvers is that if one node is down, you'll be redirected to another (which might be slower to ping) but at least it won't be dead. ISP DNS servers can go down for whatever reason at any time.

In the end, I've stuck to Google's - both PIE and TW1 have peering established with their DNS servers, so you can access them with pings ranging between 40ms and 70ms (PIE has higher pings)...but in all honesty, 30ms won't make a difference - your eye probably bats it's eyelids slower. I don't use OpenDNS because their pings are higher than Google's on both TW1 and PIE. Other resolvers are in a similar range but they won't route you to the nearest CDN (e.g. Akamai servers exist in Pakistan but those DNS servers will take you to Europe or somewhere else in Asia).
