Sorry bro I havent rooted my nexus S yet so I cant be much help in person. :(

You do know rooting will wipe all your application data on 4.0.4? Are you okay with it or you want to backup first? Because backing up a non rooted phone is quite a time taking process in itself.

I know you asked for someone's help in person but if you really wanna enjoy the custom rom world fully then you should learn to do these things yourself. In worst case scenario your phone gets bricked which isnt the end of the world, there are several guides on how to unbrick nexus S. At worst you might have to go to a shop and pay like 500-1000 rs to get your phone unbricked.

But the chances of bricking your phone are very rear if you are careful with what you are doing.

This is the place where you get all the help you will ever need regarding nexus S, extremely good and helpful people out there.

you own a developer phone and you're asking someone to root for you ? I feel sorry for your Nexus S.

nevertheless visit the Nexus S section on xda and you'll find plenty of guides to root, the worst that could happen is a soft brick(unless you mess with the bootloader) which is nothing to worry about.

Come on people it is his first time and he is a bit paranoid about it so what? What does owning a nexus S and not being a geek has to do with each other??

They are made for the pure google experience with fastest updates to the latest version, it has nothing to do with rooting your phone.

Sure it's also an ideal phone for devs but that doesnt mean anyone who buys it has to modify it, it's still superior in it's stock state than most other single core phones.

If anything it is non nexus phones which need custom roms even more as you get official updates soooo long after the version actually came. Plus all that bloatware can take a toll on performance.

there is one masla yar ... when i put the downloaded zip file called "nexussrootICS.zip" , now the question is where should i save it because it is in my E Drive. and the video says to save it in the root directory or your computer..so does this mean the C/: drive or where ,, because you have to type cd \nexussrootICS in dos and nothing happens..

^that is because cd/nexusrootICS is a wrong command.

if you place it on the root of the C drive it should be like

cd C:\nexusrootICS\

or if you put it in E
E:
cd \nexusrootICS\

its possible you had a bad install.
Reboot into recovery, wipedata/cache and then re install ROM.

already did that 3 time
rebooted into recovery using clockworkmod recovery touch and wiped data/cache and reinstalled it
but the same problem is occurring
maybe this is because crossbones rom is based upon 4.0.3 and i was running 4.0.4 when on stock rom
should i try cynogenmod9 rom?

all ROMs come with kernels, some have their own while others are using custom kernels.

You should be fine with the stock CM9 kernel, its basic and stable.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
