Usman Institute or UBIT ?

Salam,

I want to study CS and I am a bit confused. I couldn't find anyone from UIT in this forum so I decided to start a new thread.

I know FAST, IBA etc are famous for BS CS but they are not an option. FAST is too far (2hr drive atleast) and IBA is a bit too expensive.
I would like to hear your opinion and experiences.. and also recommend me any university (in Karachi) which you think is good for CS.

Though i was selected in both maju and fast and guess what..i choose fast.

If you can't afford private unis then ubit is the best 22-23k per semester. But beware, the depart sucks, think of it as you just made a deal to get a BS degree if you can study yourself and score good on the exams. That's it.

UIT's fees is not an issue. I visited UBIT few days ago and you are right, the campus sucks. That is why I was having second thoughts about it.

Where do you live? DHA Suffa can be a good choice if it's near, however if you are living in north karachi it's gonna be very far, you can apply for NUST (ISB one) if you can afford it as well. However like i said, if you are the type to self learn from the internet and books, UBIT's good for you. Because there isnt much strictness regarding attendance, so you just stay at home and study. However if you are the one who also cares about his Uni life this isn't the place for you. It's IBA/Nust. Dunno much about DHA suffa's Uni life.

There's not much to do on campus relative to other Unis, but the DSU is in Defence so you can just grab a friend and go out. We have events related to departments, MUNs, etc. sprinkled throughout the year.

I dont care much about uni life, sure I'd like to have good people around me but distraction-less and well-facilitated environment matters more.
